Rapers Wit -- When Women Cry Rape
Interesting read. Thanks rickey.— July 22, 2009 4:34 p.m.
Idiotic Football Players
Add big Ben to the list: Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been accused of sexual assault in a civil lawsuit, his lawyer said, denying the claim. The story I heard involved him telling a hotel worker his TV didn't work, and then forcing himself on her. He claims it was a consensual affair. I wonder what Kobe has to say on the matter.— July 22, 2009 12:52 a.m.
LeBron James -- Bad Sport?
Lebron dunking video update: supposedly, TMZ has obtained a copy of the famous high school dunk over James. It was filmed on a cell phone camera that wasn't confiscated, and will be shown today. Be on the look-out.— July 22, 2009 12:48 a.m.
Conspiracy Theories
Spliff...here's a good thing to remember when it comes to ANY conspiracy (not that that plane thing was a "conspiracy" per se). But...if it HAD been shot down, a number of people would know that. And, those people would want their 15 minutes of fame. Or, you'd have reporters that want to "break" the story. The government, you have to keep in mind, can't gather the media together and make some announcement like "Okay...now listen...we want to keep the country in the dark on this. So I need your cooperation on this one..." With the 40 year anniversary of us landing on the moon, some of the stories have come up about the percentage that believe it was a conspiracy, and man never landed on the moon. Well....aside from debating all the merits of such a silly conspiracy theory, the one thing I always say is this. How many people would've had to be involved? Lots of folks working at NASA. Lots of astronauts. And a few other people, that helped with the filming production. Let's say that's at least 50 people. Well...those 50 people wouldn't all be quiet. Some would tell wives or husbands. Or lovers. Or a best friend. Or they tell their doctor on their death bed. And before you know it, the secret is out.— July 22, 2009 12:47 a.m.
NBA -- Playoffs and Personalities
Yeah, I do think he's a cool dude. One of my favorite Gwynn stories...a friend of mine that was a cop, rolled up on his Mercedes in a gas station. His partner gets out and asked for Gwynns autograph. He looked at this cop and said, "How about saying 'please'?" I love that! But...I guess the point is this. Do you think that Gwynn would give all the stuff away (hall of fame, batting titles), to be a player that played 10 years, with a batting average of 200, and only one All-Star appearance? IF, giving all that away meant he won two World Series rings with, let's say, the Yankees. I guaran-friggin-tee you, he would stay with the things he did and not have the rings. And that's my original point. Any athlete of that caliber, would pick the same.— July 21, 2009 3:02 p.m.
BREAKING NEWS BLOG -- Michael Jackson and Farrah Die
Well, Spliff...I'm not as worried about STDs not because they don't involve me...but they don't involve most people that practice safe sex. And, I'm not sure what trastic measures you want done to erradicate STDs from the planet. I'm guessing doctors and scientists work on those types of things. But an issue like gay marriage, isn't about finding a "cure", but doing what's right. Again, you got your facts wrong. No where, does a prison guard make merely minimum wage. Otherwise, they wouldn't do such a risky and crappy job for that wage. They'd go work at another minimum wage job, that didn't have a risk of getting shanked or having feces thrown on them.— July 21, 2009 2:58 p.m.
Things Left on Your Car
My friends dad got one, he said the picture was crystal clear. I dunno...I've never heard from anybody else that told me if the photo was fuzzy or not. But, I always said that even if the photo couldn't tell who was driving, they should be able to say "bring the person into court that you let borrow your car that day, or you let drive. And they'll pay the ticket."— July 21, 2009 12:03 a.m.
NBA -- Playoffs and Personalities
Spliff...trust me, when the fire sale went down and the Padres were getting rid of everyone, the Yankees expressed interest. It was all over the papers and in the news. Gwynn would've made 3 or 4 million more a year, and he declined it. At that time, my friend and I wondered, if this made Gwynn a "winner". Because, you either WANT your team to stay strong and acquire good players (not let them go), or you realize what's happening and jump ship, too (and for Gwynn, one of the best hitters in baseball history, that could mean to a winning team that has a shot at a World Series, and for a bit of a pay raise). But Gwynn was content to stay in San Diego. Now, why would that be? Well...his kid was here, with his friends and school. His wife liked it here. As I'm sure he did. Oh...and because he's winning batting titles and breaking records. Because, at the end of the day, the star athletes care first and foremost, about themselves. You know what? I agreed with a lot of what you were saying about the Chargers and their fans. It's hard for me to even root for that team any more (after how I felt they treated Natrone Means). And the problem with this debate is...you can't take an athletes word on this. No athlete like Gwynn is going to say "Yeah...I didn't care that the Padres were getting rid of everyone. I was making $4 million a year, and that's enough. Why did I need $8 mil from the Yankees? Who cares." That just sounds bad. But, the funniest thing about it all was...much like your debate about the Chargers and their fans, all these idiotic San Diego Padre fans were claiming Gwynn was a classy guy, because he "didn't just care about the money" or that he was staying in SD because of the fans. Yeah, right. The fans probably were the 25th thing on his mind before deciding to stay here instead of going to NY.— July 20, 2009 6:50 p.m.
Stickin’ It to the Litter
Is SD insane? Even if she agrees with rickeysays, which I'm guessing she does on this point, she has to have a snide remark. Unbelievable. Regarding the fact that a person would have to carry a cigarette butt around...I've done that with an old cigar. I've carried around for an hour, until I find a trashcan. As rickeysays said, it's up to use to be inconvenienced, not to just decide "oh well" and chuck it anywhere. But at least pete, you sound like you're thoughtful along the process. Unlike people that just want smokers to have to stand two miles from any door entrance at a building. and jmtrudeau, I totally agree. I did a blog about it (daily crasher) on this site, just recently. I think that if those flyers or business cards are found on the ground (at least 3 of them), authorities should be able to fine the business that put them on our windshields.— July 20, 2009 5:01 p.m.
Restaurants at Rest
Why does Subway get such a bad rap when it comes to sandwiches? I love their turkey wrap, and also the turkey on white. And the meatball sandwich, for only $5, is killer!— July 20, 2009 4:49 p.m.
