Don, Nor Cal home values are down 44% from the July 2006 high, LA county is also off 44% from their high. I think San Diego is not as bad as those teo but veyr close. You really were on the money with your forcast of such a big drop off. I said 30% and I was so far off the mark I am embarassed to even mention how wrong I was. You are one smart cookie.— December 22, 2008 12:31 p.m.

Federal Reserve Essentially Admits It Is Fighting Depression, Not Simply Recession. It Lowers Interest Rate Target to Lowest Level Ever
Hank Paulson and the other idiots who are in charge are wrecking the country. Tell me this= if interest rates which were sitting at 1% were not doing the trick, what on earth makes anyone think that lowering the rate another half a pecent is going to do jack sheet????????? Is that half a percent on the already historic lows going to suddenly change the nation???? NO, of course it's not. We need to sit back and ride this one out-and along the way develope a strategy/policy for keeping MANUFACTURING JOBS here in the states. Please, I cannot wait until January 20, 2009 comes and we get this country headed in the right direction-which is ANYWHERE besides the current direction. A country that produces no goods will be a third world country in due course and we have provn that.— December 16, 2008 1:30 p.m.
New Website Preserves Documents from Aguirre, Gwinn Administrations
GREAT!!! Those cockroaches like Goldmith can run but they can't hide, not with Mike's record preserved in perpetuity. Good for Kathry Rhodes-this is the most upbeat I have been since Mike lost re electio.— December 16, 2008 11:14 a.m.
Copley Press Tells Employees It Will Put No More Money into Defined Benefit Pension Plan
Copley's DB plan was one factor in its paying of low wages; another was the sunshine tax that all San Diegans pay. ================= Everyone but public sector employees.— December 15, 2008 2:09 p.m.
Copley Press Tells Employees It Will Put No More Money into Defined Benefit Pension Plan
Either way pension plans cost the employer money. You have to look at the "total benefit packaged" and not just the base wage or salary. ============================================ This is what virtually all public employees do when they cry wolf over their "low wages", they leave out their benefits-which in the case of PD and FD are equal to thei base pay-doubling their wage compensation yet still allowing them to cry poor.— December 15, 2008 2:09 p.m.
Copley Employees Likely to Get 5% to 15% Lower Lump Sum Benefits; If Company's Pension Plan Badly Underfunded, May Not Get Lump Sums at All
It is very bad news-but if the company is bleeding red ink-which it probably is based on Copley's decision to sell- then it has to be done.— December 15, 2008 10:45 a.m.
Copley Press Tells Employees It Will Put No More Money into Defined Benefit Pension Plan
These DB plans need to go the way of the dinosaurs whether they're public or private because they are not sustainable. ============================ DB plans went the way of the dinosaur years ago in the private sector. I know if NO private sector company that offers a DB today. Don, I thought once you're in a DB under the CA constitution it cannot be changed, that's what you hear from the public sector all the time-do you know the laws on this?— December 15, 2008 10:41 a.m.

Melvyn Weiss, Once Co-Managing Partner of Notorious New York/San Diego Law Firm, Allegedly a Victim of Ponzi Schemer Madoff
OMG-Check out this resort that former civil rights lawyer Stephen Yagman is spending time (in North Caroline)-it looks like a friggen 4 star hotel! http://www.bop.gov/locations/institutions/but/ind…— December 14, 2008 12:48 p.m.
