Manchester fails to corral Boston Globe
The Globe article said that Henry won in part because of his local roots, his business record, and the assumption that he will figure out how to run a newspaper, without interfering with its editorials. Apparently, several groups outbid Henry.— August 4, 2013 4:47 p.m.
He gets a year for rigging campus election
According to the following article, he did it for the money. I have to agree with Don that identity theft is no minor offense. http://csusmchronicle.com/2013/02/fbi-charges-ex-…— July 16, 2013 3:50 p.m.
He gets a year for rigging campus election
I read somewhere that the position brought with it about 8k in benefits. Wish I could be more specific, but that's all I remember.— July 16, 2013 10:40 a.m.
Acquitted on all 13 counts of vandalism, jury says Jeff Olson should be free
If this report is complete and correct, then the judge's license to practice law should be carefully reviewed, and the city attorney should be recalled from office.— July 3, 2013 3:23 p.m.
City Attorney finds a way to bypass court ruling against Plaza de Panama Project
Hopefully, the "freight train" of consequences will include making Mr. Gloria pay the election price for not obeying a clear order from the voters. Drop the damn bridge project, and move on!— April 4, 2013 3:47 p.m.
Who's Mr. Clean? Larry Remer? Voice of San Diego?
Don, Here is the link to Remer's article in the SDFP: http://sandiegofreepress.org/2012/10/fighting-the…— November 1, 2012 9:39 a.m.
Book Criticizing San Diego Wins Top Award
Maybe I misunderstood? But here's what I gathered from the book: According to the book, we have a problem because local politicians and others repeatedly look for ways to fund projects without raising taxes to pay for them. So shorting the pension fund and spending the money elsewhere is a symptom of that problem.— September 4, 2012 10:19 a.m.
Book Criticizing San Diego Wins Top Award
It also shows that lying to voters about the cost of a project and finding a "mistake" in the numbers after the project is approved, has been going on for a long while.— September 3, 2012 3:51 p.m.
Book Criticizing San Diego Wins Top Award
I find it interesting that the book draws a one-to-one correspondence between funding of the Ballpark and Convention Center, and the structural budget deficit. It also makes a strong case that pension-deficit trouble is a symptom, not the cause. The UT editorial board will be sick to their stomachs when (if) they read this book.— September 3, 2012 1:08 p.m.
