Reader may have yanked it for due to potential legal complications. As ogbb points out, the writer totally blew the cover of a witness. I'm surprised they haven't pulled og's comment that repeats it. Story would not load for me either so I read the paper version.

Nothing Left to Lose

I couldn't agree with you more, Ms. B., but I doubt the elders will play. I think legalization is the way to go but this country does not seem to be that enlightened or wise. If anything, we're going the other way. It seemed we were making some progress here in Cali but now I hear the feds are shutting the pot shops down. One step forward and one lockstep back. Interesting idea though.

The Education of a Young Councilman

I think Councilman Young should be commended for recognizing that education is not something that stops with graduation from college. It's too bad the entire council didn't go with him. The seminars and workshops sound terrific. It's too bad they are not available locally. San Diego's leadership could use some enlightened and forward-thinking ideas. Instead of allowing those from the corporate world, which has very little in common with public administration, make the decisions, perhaps some additional education along the lines of what Councilman Young has done, would lead to better decision making and a better city overall.

Good Lord! Can Starbucks do anything else to make people feel more unwelcome? I don't understand why they don't just deal with the homeless who doze on the couches instead of doing away with the couches and having the rest of us sit on hard wood chairs. Typical punk corporate behavior.

Prosecutor: Trial Begins Though Stabber is Missing

The DA has to have more. How did they bring this guy to trial when "the other guy" did the stabbing? The article said this guy was also named for murder. What was the evidence for that? I think there is mojo going on. Somebody put coin in the slot and the legal merry-go-round is about to play and when the ride stops somebody is going to get off.

Vigilance of SDPD Volunteer Patrol Officers Due to Tiff?

This sounds like a scam run by one of the predatory towing companies. They tow cars even if the situation is not clear in terms of a parking violation. They demand the $300 to allow you to retrieve your car and then tell you to go talk to someone else in terms of why the vehicle was towed. I would not be surprised if there is a kickback arrangement between the towing company and whatever uniformed service floats in the area. Someone really needs to do something about these towing companies. They are totally out of control.
