Fallbrook deputies found the hidden gun

I'm not surprised to hear about the recorder, but must admit I did not know they had them. Wonder if the cops conversations are recorded while they are driving? I tend to doubt it. I've heard of video being recorded through people's laptop cameras without their knowledge, so I guess the next thing is conversations being recorded through your cell phone without knowledge or consent. Chip, chip, chip...there goes the civil liberties.

More parking problems soon for La Jolla’s VA Medical Center

You are so right, MNG, The need for some type of light mass transit is very apparent in SD. The roads are clogged; the rush hour delays are becoming increasingly worse. I think they should build the light rails on top of one of the traffic lanes on the highways. It would move a lot more people and reduce the traffic.

New narco-tunnel discovered in Mexicali

So the question then becomes, if someone digs a tunnel on their property that is 10 meters deep and 30 meters long, but still 270 meters from the border, have they done anything illegal? Anyone can say what they want in terms of what that tunnel might have been used for if it were to actually go under the border, but considering this one was far from that...? They may not require the same burden of proof down in Mexico that we do here, but it seems to me a half decent lawyer would get this guy off pronto.

More parking problems soon for La Jolla’s VA Medical Center

Another alternative is to park at the VA in Mission Valley and then take the free shuttle from there to the La Jolla facility. This is assuming you can find a space at the Mission Valley VA. I've heard some are parking across Qualcomm Way at the K-Mart/Sears shopping center and then walking back. The whole situation is getting crazy. Maybe they should bring in Erwin Jacobs so he can come up with some loopy plan for a road that goes around the VA and then under the existing parking lot and coming up back where you started from...or some such. He seems to have the knack for that sort of thing.

This punk got off easy. Sprayed two people in the face with mace? Flashed a pellet guy in the owner's face? Could have taken an eye out. In addition to probation he ought to be made to deliver pizza for a year without pay! What kind of stupid pills are these dopes taking? 22 years old when he pulled this crap; can't wait to see what he brings when he's 35.

UCSD ranks 4th in return on investment for public universities

I hear that. What we have here in the US now is the most educated unemployed people in the world. What burns me is how the cost of education in this country has increased and the programs to help students out have been reduced. Even this concept, which I agree is pretty much nonsense, of ROI, as if the school is a private company and not an institution dedicated to educating the population for the benefit of society, is repugnant. I feel the more we view colleges as organizations to be measured by standards such as ROI, the further we stray from the original intent and purpose of education. I wonder how people would feel if we rated corporations by how well they educate their employees?
