San Diego Unemployment Soars to 9.3%. County Loses 44,600 Jobs over Year

Reporters Say Braun Leaving U-T. Several Companies Reported To Be Taking Interest in Buying It, but All Have Financial Woes
And don't forget. On top of that comes generous health bennies, courtesy of the taxpayers. What I don't get is, Gerry had been pretty balanced in his treatment of Aguirre, until his Sept. 10 column where he said flat out that Aguirre won't win. Was that his ticket to Mayor Jerry's Private Club? Seems unlikely that Braun quits the UT Monday and gets hired the next day without some discussion going on beforehand....— September 16, 2008 8:06 p.m.

Apparently there's no recession in the mayor's office -- From today's UT: Braun to join Mayor's Office Gerry Braun, a longtime political reporter at The San Diego Union-Tribune who quit as its metro columnist Monday, will become Mayor Jerry Sanders' director of special projects next Monday. .... Mayoral spokesman Darren Pudgil said Braun will be "working in a variety of capacities, essentially assisting and advising in framing of policy matters, including water conservation and reliability, disaster preparedness and anything else that requires public outreach." ... Bersin's Brief and Belated Response
Bersin obviously had to think a while to come up with such an eloquent response. You should see what Alan's buddy Bernie Rhinerson is trying to push through in Bankers Hill -- two 180-foot-plus glass condo towers straddling historic St. Paul's Cathedral. Check it out at www.stpaulsfuture.org. The Airport Authority had no comment. Wonder why?— October 19, 2007 11:36 p.m.
City Attorney's Office to Probe Computer Unethicality by Mayor's Office
Seems odd to me how Chris "Hug a Kittle" Reed claims he stumbled into this "story." And I quote: "So I went on Google to try to ascertain Mike Aguirre's e-mail address so I could send him a question about a rumor making the rounds..." He had to Google? Really? So why, in his baloney-filled blog, does Reed refer as far back as July 2006 to responses from Aguirre. Did Aguirre pull out quill and parchment to pen an answer? Doubtful. Most likely, he emailed -- hence no need to "ascertain."— October 5, 2007 3:25 p.m.
