Which Tamara Green we talking about?
I'm gonna pass on commenting on that one.— November 26, 2014 10:59 p.m.
Which Tamara Green we talking about?
Sigh. On with the wild conspiracy theories again. Let's accept basic reality on a few things. 1. Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK. 2. Elvis is dead. 3. Barack Obama was born in the USA and 4. Bob Filner sexually harassed many women. 5. Bill Cosby raped many women. You can come up with wild conspiracy theories or accept facts.— November 26, 2014 8:25 a.m.

Yes. Maybe I'm being nostalgic but it seems to me back in the day you'd have a Right-Wing side that wanted less gov't, lower taxes, and lower services and a Left-Wing side that wanted more gov't, higher taxes, and more services. Both sides had valid points and would argue the pros/cons of both sides Then you'd have a reasonable debate between the 2 sides. Now you have both sides promising both lower taxes and more services. I don't think there are 2 balanced sides in many of the important debates - and many of the positions that both parties agree on (like giving lots of money to Wall Street firms) aren't positions which benefit most of the American people. There are other issues for which the GOP seems to have gotten off the track of making reasonable arguments for smaller gov't but acknowledging the tradeoffs and making smart concessions for areas in which large gov't is necessary (like, say providing some help for the poor and making sure financial markets are regulated to run smoothly). The GOP supposedly wants smaller gov't but intervenes massively in financial and housing markets. You have the GOP advocating for war, war, war even if means escalation in gov't. The climate change issue will not see a serious debate because the GOP has arbitrarily decided it's just not an issue.— November 25, 2014 2:53 p.m.

The GOP supposedly stands for small government but I think whenever critical donors have money on the line many leaders in the party find a way to justify spending.— November 24, 2014 8:10 p.m.

Possibly a bigger problem is hijacking of populist movements by major parties. The Tea Party standing up against Wall Street bailouts and the Iraq War has been silenced by GOP politicians like Sarah Palin jumping on the bandwagon.— November 23, 2014 4:04 a.m.

Gee I don't understand. In order to help the American people our government loosened regulations on the financial and housing industries, and then gave a zillion dollars of tax money to these industries. By some weird logic that was supposed to help ordinary Americans. But oddly enough the only beneficiaries of the government loosening regulations on and giving tons of money to the financial and housing industries were the financial and housing industries. Whooda thunk it?— November 21, 2014 7:21 p.m.
Guaranteed to fool the IRS
Sounds like a great deal - can I be a corporation too? Mitt Romney said corporations are people, but it sounds to me like maybe corporations are treated better than people.— November 19, 2014 4:30 p.m.
Guaranteed to fool the IRS
So a bit off-topic here but speaking of the IRS I wonder what you thought of the recent study claiming 7 out of the 30 largest US corporations paid more money in 2014 to their CEO's than they paid in taxes. http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/11/18/us-usa-… While I certainly think most large companies pay their CEO's too much and I think many large companies are probably dodging taxes I find the result somewhat difficult to believe - but I'm wondering what Don and others thought of the study.— November 18, 2014 9:38 p.m.

The story wasn't as watered down as many Disney musicals. It wasn't aimed at 5 year old girls.— November 16, 2014 8:04 p.m.
White-knuckle descent
Better build a new airport in the middle of the desert so we can develop the Imperial Valley and leave prime SD Harbor land for Papa Doug to develop. (extreme sarcasm mode off)— November 5, 2014 9:03 p.m.
