Who won debate? Peso soars.
Sigh. You may be right. As South Park put it we have a choice between a d-bag and a turd sandwich.— October 2, 2016 8:27 a.m.
Who won debate? Peso soars.
Don't write off the issues. Trump has taken strong positions against illegal immigration and globalization. Clinton is in favor of illegal immigration and strongly in favor of globalization. I think that many working class people feel that illegal immigration and globalization hurt their chances at getting decent jobs. I tend to agree with Trump's positions on these particular issues - I don't think we should continue to allow unabated illegal immigration and I don't think our trade agreements and increased globalization have been good for the American working class. I think the media (and frankly some of the above posts) have vastly underestimated Trump's chances because the media focus on Trump's (admittedly) outrageous circus act and ignore that there are real issues addressed by Trump that have been ignored by most major candidates for POTUS.— September 29, 2016 9:25 a.m.

Interesting data, Don. The Peso exchange rate and futures certainly indicate a highly likelihood of Hillary victory after the debate compared to before the debate. There are some websites which have an algorithm to add up betting odds (and perhaps a few other metrics) to come up with odds of each candidate winning. Maxim and Lott's website showed Trump's odds of winning dropping from about 34% to 30% pre/post debate https://electionbettingodds.com/ Nate Silver's website shows Trump's chances not changing much - about 44% before and after the debate. http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-election… Who's right? If I knew that I'd be a wealthy man from betting on elections, but sadly that's not the case.— September 28, 2016 7:08 a.m.
Ex-grid star to lose law license Monday
Kermit Washington, of course, was most famous for ending Rudy Tomjanavich's (sp?) Houston Rockets NBA career with a punch in the 70'— September 27, 2016 8:38 p.m.
Ex-grid star to lose law license Monday
And now for the great office I get to choose between a candidate who uses a "charity" to avoid paying taxes or a candidate who uses a "charity" to allow wealthy donors to buy influence. Hooray.— September 27, 2016 2:58 p.m.
Raiders want eternal flame for Al Davis
I don't know if he was all bad. Davis did some good things for minority rights and women's rights. But if I had to guess as to whether he got a thumbs up or down as he knocked on the pearly gates my guess would be the same as yours.— September 24, 2016 10:38 a.m.
Raiders want eternal flame for Al Davis
Voters should tell any major league sports owner(s) who ask for public funding to go to that place that a red guy with horns and a pitchfork has plenty of eternal flames for them.— September 23, 2016 7:22 p.m.
San Diego's $2.27 billion pension hole
The police and fire unions claim that police and firefighters have shorter lifespans than the average person. I think the unions' claims are untrue, as does the author of this website. http://www.publicsectorinc.org/2014/08/police-and…— September 23, 2016 6:03 a.m.
San Diego's $2.27 billion pension hole
Many jobs have much much higher mortality rates and much lower pay (fishing, forestry, agriculture, etc). I never said the jobs were unskilled but I don't think that total compensation packages better than what many lawyers and doctors receive need to be offered to hire and retain good police officers and fire fighters. I don't think public officials are letting market conditions dictate compensation - I think pressure and influence from public employee unions have skew the compensation packages to far more than what the free market value would be.— September 19, 2016 9:55 a.m.
Mira Mesa braces for mega population growth
"Locals like us may know our communities well, but that does not give us the right to discriminate against newcomers, be they from out of state or our own children. " I completely disagree. Local residents DO have the right to expect local leaders to put their needs and wants ahead of the needs and wants of non-residents. You can use "selfish" or whatever pejorative name-calling you want - but it is well within reason for residents to expect their leaders to be advocates for their needs and wants.— September 19, 2016 7:23 a.m.
