Dog owners in some areas have formed non profit groups and contribute to the upkeep of their local legal off leash parks. Perhaps the dog owners near Capehart Park in Pacific Beach could do the same thing ? — June 24, 2010 5:07 p.m.

Some dogs parks have been reseeded multiple times at taxpayer expense. There is a lot of extra maintenance required at dog parks which also costs staff time and our taxpayer money. The dog parks where the owners help with the maintenance and getting extras like dog water fountains, extra benches, and shade structures are generally much nicer because the people care about their park. I think it is disgusting to use a children's playground for an illegal off leash park. I am sure not every bit of you know what is picked up. There is an off leash site at Dusty Rhodes Park which is not that far from PB and Fiesta Island is close and legally off leash with a huge fenced area. Anyone who is complaining and also breaking the law needs to examine their conscience.— June 24, 2010 8:07 p.m.

I think there is confusion here between homeless who are not criminals and those who use RV's for criminal enterprise. It is a dilemma for the police and citizens alike which bespeaks the need for a year round homeless shelter. Father Joe does much good work in this area and helps families get back on their feet with shelter as well as job training. However, there will always remain people who, for one reason or another, will not be sheltered and helped. Then the whole problem of the homeless who are mentally ill surfaces. When the so called "safety net" for the most unfortunate was dropped under Ronald Reagan, the problems increased.— June 24, 2010 11:59 a.m.

Villa Montemar. Beautiful grounds and buildings back in the day when I was there. The North Terrace had its own special charm with the Grecian style pool and the mysterious parlors located in the estate's two story former home. I recall a tower in the music building and jacarandas gracing a front patio. Rose gardens too. The pink marble chapel was over the top even for an RCC girls' school. Such innocent times for the students and the world.— June 24, 2010 11:50 a.m.

The dilemma is how to distinguish between the criminal activity associated with some RV's and the others which may only be socially annoying to some. The dumping of raw sewage which does occur from some of these RV's is a health hazard. More and more people are living in substandard situations because of poverty and not out of choice. Still the fight to locate a year round homeless shelter goes on and on and on in San Diego. A good example of something working for the homeless is the Vietnam Veterans Village on Pacific Highway.— June 24, 2010 11:40 a.m.

From what SDPD has indicated to citizens, some, but not all, RV's are being used for criminal activities such as prostitution and drug sales. I believe Councilmember Ben Hueso made some statements about the RV's in this district being part of this scenario.— June 24, 2010 11:20 a.m.
