Employment Data Have Economists Scratching Heads
No and I don't expect to, as all the mainstream media is now a major part of the problem! It is owned and also controlled by the Ultra Wealthy that are, I'm sure, being told not to rock our very unstable fiscal "Lifeboat" by the Gov't. and their own Investors alike! Many of US remember the Vietnam War and how much of the only truthful War news came from the "Radical Free Press" (which at the time, was criticized by the Gov't as Anti-American); then many years later the truth came out that we had been routinely lied to, by our own Gov't... We are the Radical Free Press of our time!— February 6, 2011 9:39 a.m.
Employment Data Have Economists Scratching Heads
With most folks now bowing down to those with money, I believe that our Country is now in a Financial World War that is being waged not only against the world's poor (as usual) but now also the Middle Class (which is a new twist)... Money and the control of it, will determine the near future of the Planet! Welcome to the U$A— February 6, 2011 9:33 a.m.
City Intends to Dump the Dump
Let's privatize the Mayor & City Council instead! That would be a Win-Win for US all! ____________________ Trash the Dump Plan! ____________________— February 6, 2011 8:27 a.m.
Employment Data Have Economists Scratching Heads
No new home building = no recovery. ====== I now suspect that nothing will be done until just prior to the next election... Every day Congress waits, the US workers will be that much more desperate, more able to compete Globally due to lowered wage expectations and more willing to believe in the Congressional Fairy Tale, that "Our recovery" is just around the next corner... UNLESS We get involved in another WAR, then you will see the spending flood gates open wide...— February 6, 2011 7:19 a.m.
Employment Data Have Economists Scratching Heads
RE: "But there was bad news: Total hours worked and the average workweek fell. Construction employment fell". To me this says it all, our Gov't. is in the process of morphing our nations workers into part time workers with MUCH LOWER wage expectations... If the Gov't. does not create public works jobs in a big way "yesterday" then what is left of the middle class will be doomed to financial failure, which in turn will drag the economy downward at an accelerated rate. No middle class buying houses = no housing recovery! Energy prices (aka $4-$5 gasoline) will help create a perfect storm for all protests in this Country as all those out of meaningful work will start demanding "BETTER FROM Congress," instead of "BETTER FOR Congress"; "Financial Freedom" will be their battle cry and the ongoing Egyptian freedom marches will be their role model! Like the Protests in the Sixty's, "It's going to be a long HOT summer!"— February 5, 2011 7:13 a.m.
When El Cajon Avenue Became a Boulevard
Yes, the old date stamps and names are great but it is also too bad that the City does not also re-establish the old sidewalk scoring when they replace the same sidewalks... The "new" sidewalks don't last as long either and seem to get many more "holes" appearing in them in a much shorter time period! Ideally, the corners would get surveying pins installed so that any sidewalk jobs done mid block would align with the entire blocks scoring pattern and edges but again the City is not doing its job and allowing each job to align with its own best guess which results in a "drunkards walk" of scoring all done at the frustration of those Owners that had to pay out of pocket for them! Doing every sidewalk on an entire block would result in a much superior job and not surprisingly was the way they were done back in the day. Want a good example of a "drunkards walk" job(and I'm not referring to the Late Night type), stroll down a couple of blocks of Ray St. in NP, south of North Park Way.— February 2, 2011 10:14 a.m.
Rename the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge?
I would not support that idea at all, I think if we were to consider renaming the bridge, the "Wings of Gold" Bridge honoring the 1911 birth place of Naval Aviation (Coronado) would be a far, far better name! GO NAVY + If we renamed the bridge it would then be known Nationally as: San Diego's Bridge to Nowhere! Let's name the new Downtown (aka: Guacamole Bowl) Stadium after him instead, since that also does not make any sense at all... I'm surprised that nobody mentioned that Reagan had Alzheimer's Disease (many think for a long time) while serving as our President, maybe in reality, history will show that Nancy Reagan was our first Women President! http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-917850.html— February 2, 2011 7:59 a.m.

Good Food For Thought! Having grown up in a family that believed not wasting food and being a charter member of the "Clean Plate Club," I've been resistant to leaving on my plate; luckily I know good cooking when I see it on my dish or in my bowl, depending upon what it is!
