Dog days of the season at San Diego Symphony
Interesting how 2 people can hear the same concert, and "hear" such radically different things. The Strauss isn't one of my favorite works by him, but apparently even he thought he had gone to far with thematic development in it. Even so, I enjoyed that performance. But the Schubert - I think it was the best I've ever heard the SDS sound. True, not dramatic or flashy, but transfigurative. It was one of those few performances where I was almost not aware I was actually listening to people play, everything felt so right.— May 24, 2016 4:13 p.m.
