Hueso, Emerald reconfirm statements on DeMaio behavior
The comment was about being hypocritical, not about being gay, Both deny their actions, which were witnessed by the vice squad in Senator Craig's case, and I have heard the tape-recordings of the actual incident and arrest; and two acts of masterbation in a public restroom by DeMaio. Being gay is not the issue. These acts by DeMaio were witnessed and DeMaio asked Ben Hueso not to tell. Then DeMaio threatened to expose Filner. There is much right wing hypocrisy going on by DeMaio. If I offended anyone, I am sorry. Senator Craig claimed that he had a wide stance.— August 28, 2013 5:49 p.m.

Plunge in uranium prices hits General Atomics
Fukushima proves that even with three core meltouts, and massive dumping into the atmosphere and sea, that "no one died." In fact we need not fear ionizing radiation at all! We should feel confident that we can build reactors in the most seismically active area in the world. Spent fuel pools are not a problem. If the thousands of tons of highly radioactove fuel rods in the spent fuel pools on reactor number four crash down and cause mass extinction of the human race maybe slime molds will survive. SONGS was totally safe, why not gamble with the lives of 8.5 million people? We need to act boldly and take chances, and, pass onto the ratepayers any losses. The people need to suck up mutations and cancers for corporate profits. Our higher power "the market" looks only to profits and socializes the costs. More reactors subsidzed by the government are needed to boost uranium prices, if you are 70 or 80, you weren't going to live forever anyway, and you may as well have ever more money to spend before you go. Price-Anderson forces the government to insure all this since 1957. It's all part of the weapons program. Get with the program!— August 26, 2013 10:17 a.m.
Just what authority will Council President Todd Gloria have after taking control of Mayor's Office?
The people need to vet our politicians by doing due diligence about their background. We need to know about their educational transcripts, curriculum vitae, marital history, and character. They must produce their tax returns, service records, etc. and be willing to answer questions from the people based on those documents. We really have no idea who Obama was based on his voting record etc. Filner had some personality quirks that were brought to my attention before the election by long-term Democratic residents of San Diego. This story about DeMaio, if true, blows him out of the water. These candidates need to be questioned by the people and free press. The main stream media is corporate:owned and avoids the important issues.— August 26, 2013 7:08 a.m.

To me, Mad Men could only be watched for one season. What point do you have in beating a dead horse? Being so pedantic and bombastic is not a sign of good journalism. You are 100% right and everyone else is 100% wrong. We stipulate in writing. Could I compare you to Gloria Allred? She is getting paid for being a strident voice while you enjoy the sadism because it makes you think you are important is what I suspect? I defend progessive ideas, not Edward Kennedy's actions or even Clinton's actions. Can you discuss ideas rather than people? I am sure you have good ideas. Leave the issues to the lawyers in court to resolve. Filner is in the rearview mirror - pun intended.— August 25, 2013 11:46 a.m.

David Batterson, I said weeks ago the same thing. Making pseudo advances in jest, even, is demeaning to women. Most sarcasm contains more than a little hostility. Do you remember Bill Ballance (so?) from the 60s on 690 am radio? Women would call in and he would insult them? He dated Dr. Laura Schesinger and videotapped her, later releasing the nude video on the internet. There is some truth to the allegations and some exaggeration. Saldana and others knew of stories before the election, just as with the Gropenator. I have relatives who knew him in Munich. So what is your point? Don is a bad guy?— August 25, 2013 11:27 a.m.

I wondered about that too. Goldsmith worked against the mayor who is one of his clients if you subscribe to the idea that he represents the City Council and the mayor. I thought that Goldsmith had stated that he represented the last mayor Sanders but then changed that opinion when it came to Filner. This issue of who Goldsmith believed he represents under municipal law is a debate that goes back to when Michael Aguirre was in office as City Attorney. He clamed that he represented the people. Goldsmith has been inconsistent is his public statements about this issue.— August 25, 2013 8:57 a.m.
