Pure Country
Someone on another forum, a lady that lived in Alabama, used to talk about this movie all the time, how much she loved it, was her favorite film, so one day when it was on TCM, or whatever that country channel is, I watched it, wasn't terrible, wasn't great, did get what she saw in it, though. It's a likeable enough movie. :)— April 13, 2010 10:24 p.m.
Riding The Bullet
Do you know, I think I love your fanciful threads most, the one about the socks and the one about the lingerie, they just lit up my brain, I keep meaning to go back and re-read them, will have to make the time to do it ...— April 13, 2010 10:18 p.m.
Riding The Bullet
You have such a wonderful way of looking at the world, nan, it's a true blessing to be able to read your threads and think about what you're sharing.— April 13, 2010 10:16 p.m.

I can hardly keep myself from laughing at your dishonesty. So I insulted Daniels by stating the obvious, that she is intelligent and well-educated. Had I merely stated, "Daniels, surely you know that your angst is not justified by the state of education in this country," would that have not insulted her? Of course not because what you are really saying is that the insult lies in my even daring to engage SDaniels in this discussion. In that case, I do apologize for responding to her question, which I believed she meant honestly, and to which I responded honestly. I stand by what I said: When one considers the state of education from the time this country was founded until now, it seems hardly in doubt that our children, and more of our children, are better educated. I remember reading somewhere that a hundred years ago, less than one percent of the American population graduated from college. The last census data that I recall reading found that 75% of students graduating from high school attain at least some college education, and approximately 25% graduate with a degree. Those are the facts. If they insult anyone, then I apologize for stating them. In fact, I retract my original answer, and prefer from now on to keep mum on the subject I apparently am too ignorant to discussion with my betters.— April 13, 2010 10:08 p.m.

I repeat my question: Where in that sentence did I insult Daniels?— April 13, 2010 9:27 p.m.
Jesus "H" Christ
Jesus Homer Christ? I don't know, doesn't have a ring to it ... You know who we need, that guy on ESPN that always comes up with these nicknames for athletes. Like Jesus "Homerun" Christ, there you go! :)— April 13, 2010 9:04 p.m.
Wake Up, Speak Up
I was actually at a meeting tonight. And will be at a meeting tomorrow night. Excuse any delay in responding to your comments. On the other hand, it may be that I don't find them worth replying to. :)— April 13, 2010 9:01 p.m.

And by the way, it would be interesting to know what motivated you to imply that I insulted Daniels. I doubt however that the truth on that subject will be told. And to be honest, since I won't know, then I don't care, and will move on. Fish are good at moving on. :)— April 13, 2010 8:58 p.m.

I said, and as everyone has noted I have been a woman of my word, that I would ignore your posts, refried. But this calls for a clarification: Exactly where in that sentence did I insult SDaniels? And BTW, if as I suspect this is just a strategy of divide and conquer by brown-nosing, frankly, my dear refried, I don't give a hoot for such shabby tactics. I don't wish to buy anyone's good opinion by that means, and I don't respect anyone who plays those games. But, please, do go on and show me how I am wrong and not wrong.— April 13, 2010 8:52 p.m.
Wake Up, Speak Up
I think that says more about paws' mentality than the factual situation. If all paws did for three consecutive meetings was sit on her butt then I can just imagine what sort of a member she would have made -- I've seen these types, and maybe paws isn't in this class, that come in with an agenda and do nothing beyond forward those interests. The rest of the meetings they sit there and could care less about the rest of the agenda, the people there, the discussions, reports, workshops, projects. So yes, people can sit on their butts for three consecutive meetings and not listen to a word said, not engage in dialogue, not contribute to the discussions. This is why I praise people like the dedicated volunteers of Kate Sessions Park and like Grasca, who actually do care and contribute their time, their attention, their interest, to the betterment of the Park and Recs in this City. I can assure everyone that most volunteers on the rec councils are like her, and as a resident of this City, I thank them for their service.— April 13, 2010 6:47 p.m.
