Stay tuned for the next chapter of, "As The Office Turns."— April 26, 2010 4:59 p.m.
Simple Food
Simple Food Thread Beef Soup :) *Cooking takes 2 - 3 hours Beef stewing meat Beef Buillion cubes Onion, cut in chunks Canned diced tomatoes Corn, cut into two or three pieces Carrots, cut in chunks Chayote, cut in four Cabbage, cut in six sections Potatoes, cut in chunks Cilantro (All quantities according to how much soup you want to make) Cook beef stewing meat in a big stock pot with enough water to make a soup, when the water is boiling, add buillion cubes and if you want, salt. Every so often, check meat for tenderness and add water as needed. Simmer until the meat is halfway tender, then add onion and tomatoes and let simmer a while longer, then add corn and carrots, simmer, then add chayote and cabbage, simmer, then last the potatoes and cilantro. When the potatoes are tender, the soup is ready. Serve with a side of red rice, hot corn tortillas (you can get fresh at Gabriels on 25th and Imperial) and slices of lemon to squeeze onto the soup for a burst of flavor. You can also add chili sauce, not the kind in a bottle or jar, has to be the good kind or none at all. Here is a picture, forget the artfully added cilantro and onion on top, that's just for show, and note the lemon and rice on the side: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3485/3201638135_6c… Notes on chayote and cilantro. Chayote is a type of squash, when cooked, its shell and consistency is creamy, like cooking pumpkin. Here is a picture: http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/Images/chayote.jpg Cilantro is a fresh herb, it comes in hanks, use about a fourth of cilantro in soup, whole, just cut off the ends. Cilantro is also good in guacamole, salsas, or diced and sprinkled on grilled meat tacos. Here is a picture: http://teluguabhiruchulu.files.wordpress.com/2009…— April 26, 2010 4:29 p.m.

Nearly New York
HonestGovernment, you have just sold me. I will have to try that pizza, possibly this next weekend. Thanks! :) BTW, my son attended Brooklyn (now Einstein) in South Park.— April 26, 2010 10:48 a.m.
A Most Exceptional Duck
We had ducks when I was a kid, they were okay as pets, but the messes they made were pretty disgusting, their water was disgusting, the whole backyard smelled like duck. It didn't really matter in that neighborhood, so many people kept farm animals in their yards, hen coops, rabbits, pigeons, the poop was used for manure. The neighbors next door, an elderly black couple originally from the South, would ask us for the eggs, and we would get back cakes made with the eggs, really delicious.— April 26, 2010 10:37 a.m.
Wake Up, Speak Up
This matter will come before the City Council eventually, my guess is May or June. If anyone would like to express their opinion pro or against, they can contact councilmember Faulconer at the link Grasca provided above, or contact their own councilmember, or the Mayor's office. Won't even have to move from your computer screen to do that.— April 26, 2010 9:44 a.m.
east coast to west coast
Okay! I would like to read more about your life experiences, and how you see the differences between your former east coast life and life here on the best coast. :)— April 26, 2010 2:56 a.m.
Just Tell Me What You Want
Guess we are all just jealous of the fantastic actress MacDowell. ;) Daniels, that trailer reminded me of something I read recently, that one of the most common sexual fetishes men are into is spanking. That spank in the trailer was pretty amazing. I wonder if Spader had been practicing. ;)— April 26, 2010 2:43 a.m.
A Tomb With a View
Well, Grant, with a gran who spends a lot of time in hospitals and nursing homes, I can tell you that I too have thought a lot about this and related subjects. The "tomb with a view" bit reminded me of someone I know whose husband passed away and she had the funeral cortege drive all through the streets of our community so "he could see his old hangouts one last time." The passing of a family member often deranges thinking; I've done loony things so I try not to think too harshly about others who have carried out strange customs. Will also add that this is a well written and touching and thought-provoking essay, thank you.— April 26, 2010 2:20 a.m.
