Happy Holly Daze
This is a cool piece for the local music scene and for squares, like me, who don't explore San Diego's night life enough or at all. I'm embarrassed to say I've only heard of Gregory Page, but the other musicians you mention? If I didn't read about them here, I'd never know they existed... kind of pathetic I suppose. And there are different colors of acid?? Who knew. Cigars are tired, Crasher. ha ha. Please say that you almost blurted out, "that's what she said" regarding the putting the fudge in the fridge.. just kidding. That would be inappropriate. I love Moon River. I think John McCain should have used that for his campaign stop song. Just a suggestion. A nice variation of Crasher would be to have Josh invite a different guest each week who could help him properly light the room when he films at evening parties.— January 14, 2010 1:41 a.m.
Best Job Ever? Best Husband Ever?
Hahaha on two counts: the Gary Larson cartoon quip and Elin Woods. She probably would get some satisfaction from that. And I guess I can't trust your critiques of films, Josh. I did not care for Little Children at all. Most of the characters were pretty unlikeable IMO. ;-)— January 1, 2010 10:13 p.m.
The Predictable Pandora's Box is Opening
Oh my PistolPete! ;-) I think one could be the most jaded movie mofo out there and Josh does a pretty accurate AND good review here, but I *think* this movie deserves to be seen by everyone in the proper 3D environment. And that's my nerdy opinion. ;-)— December 25, 2009 4:19 a.m.
Lofty, Bizarre
Is playing chess at a birthday party considered very social? Not judging, just don't really know. So DID the speaker say "Jew harp"? and if so, sorry for being so inquisitive, what is it? ;-)— December 25, 2009 3:59 a.m.
Ho-Ho-How About a Cookie?
I'm a very new follower of Josh's blogs, but of all the Crasher party stories I've read, this is my favorite. The hostess, the decor (inside and out) and the party itself is the epitome, to me at least, of Christmas spirit. I really enjoy and admire how creative people are with their Xmas light displays. As I get older, sadly, I find myself very jaded this time of year, but seeing how others get into the spirit of the season tends to temper that feeling. This piece would definitely be amiss without the video. Good videography work, Josh.— December 25, 2009 3:45 a.m.
Star Power
Star Wars is in my Top 5 Greatest Movies List. I remember seeing it in its original film release when I was 8 years old AND in Los Angeles. It was nuts. Of course I had a crush on Mark Hamill. Years ago, a close girlfriend and I had a discussion, rather she kind of condescendingly told me that I probably liked Mark Hamill (back then when we were little) and she was the only cool one, out her friends, who liked Harrison Ford. It was funny to me because she was right to assume that.. and now we both love Harrison Ford.— December 12, 2009 2:52 a.m.
Spit Happens (and so do chimp attacks)
I love the scene in the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory film where Violet says, "Spitting's a dirty habit" to which Willy Wonka replies, "I know a worse one". (remember she's picking her nose when she says this to W. Wonka) hahaha!!— December 10, 2009 8:38 p.m.
Liver and Mushrooms
Well, I'm not really a huge fan of mushrooms either. I only started to give them a chance in my middle thirties and I do NOT like them on my pizza.. so there ya go.— December 6, 2009 2:19 a.m.
Liver and Mushrooms
I always ignore the advice, when prepping mushrooms before cooking, to just "brush them off with a damp paper towel'. Really?! To me that's so unclean! I give those babies a full on shower and do my best to dry them thoroughly. I'm also pretty sure that I've ruined them for cooking, but at least I have a little peace of mind that they're "clean". "I bet he hasn't shut up about his wife and her cooking..." Hilarious!!!— December 5, 2009 10:14 p.m.
Thanksgiving Dinner
I saw Wicked for the first time this summer.. it was sooo awesome. Isn't it a musical and not a play?? ;-) That sounds like the coolest Thanksgiving party ever.. I love how there were activities...and Vance the Vegan made me really laugh out loud.— November 27, 2009 11:24 p.m.
