Congas for God
I have to say, I've been blessed during my musical career. I have been fortunate to perform all over this planet of ours. But, where I feel the best performances is at Church. I guess it's because people are gathered to praise and worship and you can feel the connection. The music has a meaning and it's a true blessing. I always say I can do the things I do on percussion only because God has given me that gift. And expressing that gift with him at church, it does not get any better. I'm truly blessed.— December 23, 2011 7:29 p.m.
Get La Cura
If I could elaborate a little on the Mambo of the 30's. One of my biggest inspirations musically was Israel "Cachao" Lopez. In the 30's he was already a legendary arranger/composer, composing literally 1000's of Mambo arrangements. Cachao the inventor of Mambo, brought that sound to the United States in the 50's and it swept around the World. Here is a little fact. Cachao made such an impression on me, I named my youngest son Israel in Cachao's honor. Hope all you Reader Bloggers can come out and enjoy a wonderful evening of SALSA Music, October 27 at Cafe Sevilla.— October 9, 2011 11:40 a.m.
