Ladies, please! You're in public!
>Nova calls them "brainy and bizarre" and "wily suitors." I'm tempted to say "high praise indeed!", but that might just me back in hot water. "bizarre" is not always taken as a compliment.— February 12, 2010 11:22 p.m.
Ladies, please! You're in public!
Everyone... CuddleFish is mega mad at me because I said "squid". She felt -- justifiably perhaps -- that I was being snarky and disrespectful. What I meant was... a cuddlefish is a squid... and I love CuddleFish. Given that, the word "squid" feels warm and intimately squishy... squishy in the best way. Squishy like you could meld and melt into this other. I bill myself as a poet, but even so, I've obviously used a word in a ham-fisted way here, and hurt her. If she puts out a contract on me, and has me killed, please tell her that I meant it as -- it seemed to me -- a perfect term of endearment.— February 12, 2010 10:52 p.m.

OK, I'm thinking...— February 12, 2010 8:58 p.m.
Ladies, please! You're in public!
>Some of your friends here were asking about you. :) No, CuddleFish (Can I just call you 'Squid'? That seems so much more intimate and squishy... ) No, they weren't. They were caught up in this moment: >I was embarrassed. He just smiled. That's like _War and Peace_ on a microdot. ~~~ I've actually read _War and Peace_. I've read all of the _The Faerie Queene_ which is harder. I haven't, though, yet read all this blog post of yours. I've scanned ahead some, and see some good stuff, but am unqualified to say more. Meanwhile I'm thinking squishy.— February 12, 2010 7:37 p.m.
Welcome another friend: Brad
>Anyways... Brad is awful quiet. No, just awful.— February 12, 2010 5:57 p.m.
Ladies, please! You're in public!
>all the long decades of tedious sermonizing from the sanctimonious Phil I honestly believe... long have... when Dr. Phil gets to the Pearly Gates, Saint Peter is going set him down on some celestial yet comfy (and studio photogenic) couch, and ask, "That tedious sermonizing, Phil... how's that working out for you?" ~~~ This post is a rich mine, much to talk about. More later. (Unless I get ostracized or debilitated.)— February 12, 2010 4:32 p.m.
Feeling that Poetry Vibe
This is posted hundreds of places on the Web, so I think it's OK to quote in full here, and it seems relevant. It's a favorite of mine. Eating Poetry Mark Strand Ink runs from the corners of my mouth. There is no happiness like mine. I have been eating poetry. The librarian does not believe what she sees. Her eyes are sad and she walks with her hands in her dress. The poems are gone. The light is dim. The dogs are on the basement stairs and coming up. Their eyeballs roll, their blond legs burn like brush. The poor librarian begins to stamp her feet and weep. She does not understand. When I get on my knees and lick her hand, she screams. I am a new man. I snarl at her and bark. I romp with joy in the bookish dark.— February 5, 2010 9:11 a.m.
Romance Movies, Worst and Best
I liked most of it... I thought Tom Hanks was great, and I had a major crush on Meg Ryan. Meg's putzy fiancee Walter was irritaating, as was Tom's dating interest... the chick with the annoying laugh (but then she was supposed to be). I like the part with Tom and the little boy quite a bit. Rosie O'Donnell was a surprisingly positive note. I've told you I'm a sap: I probably like chick flicks a lot more than you do!— February 4, 2010 2:07 p.m.

I *did* like it, and I don't care who knows it!— February 4, 2010 1:02 p.m.
Romance Movies, Worst and Best
Guess it's time for me to finally get around to watching Breakfast at Tiffany's! Nay to Sleepless in Seattle? Aww. :( Moonstruck was a little gem, as I recall.— February 4, 2010 11:56 a.m.
