National City teachers turn up heat
The teachers are listing somethings twice in the $14 million calculation. Restricted balances are not reserves and have been counted by the union. My guess is they know their calculation is faulty but since it brings pressure on district top brass they go with it.— February 7, 2018 1:32 p.m.
Francis Parker School expansion approved
It sure seems like that campus has already grown 10 times the size it was in 2005. Now 62,000 sq. ft. more? I'm not impacted at all since I don't live there but i sure can empathize with the residents. I know planning commissioners hear resident complaints all the time but they should at least act sympathetic to their concerns. It's unprofessional not to since they work for the public and business community. At this rate of growth how long till they try and buy the County Ed. complex next door?— July 30, 2016 9:06 a.m.
Abortion doctor in Sharp Healthcare clothing
He probably got tired of the protester and wanted to ridicule and get rid of him, not a smart move. Obviously the security guard and police there shows that things have been ugly with the protester(s) otherwise why incur the extra expense of hiring a guard? My hunch is his problems with the medical board are in part due to pastor Zephaniah and his followers actions. Hopefully The Doc sues pastor Zephaniah for the “a Serial Killer” moniker on the YouTube video since legally he is not. Then everyone loses. In some articles everyone deserves to lose I guess.— July 30, 2016 8:50 a.m.
San Ysidro School District teachers ripped off?
Clearly from the article the district had financial problems and mismanagement. Borrowing from a bond for payroll and failing to return it? So the county is brought in to rein the financial problems in and is now blamed for hiding money to make the problem worse? A little reading reveals the county office is responsible for monitoring the school districts financial health. The charge that the county office wants a district that it is responsible to financially monitor to look bad makes no sense. It only makes the county office look bad when a district it is responsible for is struggling financially. Why would this be their agenda? In any decent public entity financial system you can't hide money. It's either at the treasury (which provides monthly cash statements) or in a bank account )which provides statements. It's only being hidden if no one bothers to look. This whole things seems really centered over government employees not getting a raise they wanted. If the district can truly afford to give them a raise (since “the money was there all along”) why not ask the school district board for it? Why in the world should the county office “make up for the San Ysidro teachers' lost pay”? It's not even alleged the county office took the money only that they “purposely hid" it. So if there is a raise due to San Ysidro staff the district should pay it from these “hidden” funds that have been found.— July 15, 2016 9:41 p.m.
