People's Food Co-op to expand – out of Ocean Beach?
People's has no intention of shutting the Ocean Beach location. The objective of "expansion" is to open a second location. Many current shoppers have requested this. Plus, increasing cooperative business presence, i.e. businesses that are owned and controlled by the people who use them (which differs largely from the business model of Whole Foods and Trader Joe's), in San Diego is good for communities and local economies.— March 5, 2013 11:07 a.m.
Rich and famous play chicken
"allegedly cruel confinement of chickens and other animals on California farms . . ." !!? come on Matt, do you really believe that being stuffed into a cage so small that a creature can't spread it's wings, move it's legs, or turn over is "alleged". If that is what you believe, why not spend a night on a factory farm cozied up to one of these animals. You can even have your very own cage, no need to share.— October 15, 2008 4:55 p.m.
