Dave Myers, rabble rouser
I guess the Dems in La Mesa don't vote. I wonder how many La Mesa registered voters actually vote. The one thing that a city council does not need is a member of law enforcement on the council. Law enforcement has a lot of influence on city government and has no place being on the council.— October 17, 2018 7:55 a.m.
A San Diego version of MeToo
His father must be proud of Jr.— October 17, 2018 7:49 a.m.
Prosecutor argues against early release of Julie Harper
While the enhancement is intended to discourage those with murderous intent from using firearms I doubt that anyone thinks of that at the time they commit the crime. The problem is with the sentence. A convicted murderer sentenced to, as in this case, 40 years to life should spend the 40 years before being eligible for parole. While in many cases lengthy sentences are handed out few spend anywhere near the time they were given.— October 16, 2018 8:50 a.m.
SDSU backer kicks in against rent control
The problem is not the cost of housing (rent, ownership) but the low wages paid workers.— October 13, 2018 6:44 a.m.
Unions back city hall incumbents, with one exception
Politicians are bought and paid for on all levels of government. The largest purchaser of politicians are corporations.— October 12, 2018 3:18 p.m.
Atkins garners horse money, DeMaio frets about gas tax repeal title
If DeMaio is for it I am against it.— October 11, 2018 6:13 a.m.
Main Attraction leaving downtown Oceanside
No one is going to die because a titty bar is closing. I wonder how many people have died because some drunk stimulated by watching women whore themselves drove away and was involved in a crash that killed or injured someone. These places are demeaning to all women and do nothing for the maturing of the male.— October 9, 2018 7:52 a.m.
Electric shock
Utility company's should be ratepayer owned not for profit corporations. Look at IID (Imperial Irrigation District) which is ratepayer owned and supplies the east end of the Coachella Valley (Indio area). The rates are 40% lower than SCE (Southern California Edison) and does not have tiered rates or peak uses etc. Ratepayer owned is not government owned. SDG&E and its parent company are for profit and has no interest in providing affordable service. The are corrupt at best. Just look at the relationship between them and the corrupt CPUC.— October 9, 2018 7:44 a.m.
Encinitas shark signs stolen
The signs are too nice thus collectable. Back in the day the sign would have an official seal or header with hand lettered "beach closed" warning. Not collectable.— October 6, 2018 6:25 a.m.
The problem with artificial grass
Artificial turf has other issues. It gets very hot so that one can not walk on in without shoes. If you have dual pane windows and if the sun reflects off of them onto the artificial turf it will burn. It needs to be raked and vacuumed to get the small particles out of it. It also has a life span in that, while much improved, requires replacement.— October 3, 2018 6:16 a.m.
