The Heart of Rock & Roll goes flat line
How wrong can a review be? I liked the play so much I have paid to see it twice. Flatlines? Nope. People were dancing at their seats and everyone stood cheering the end. This is a feel good romantic comedy where the story is actually advanced by the songs. Most jukebox musicals stick in songs just to get them in, but that is not the case here. Given how diverse Huey’s songbook is, it is amazing they could be connected in such a coherent and enjoyable way. As the owner of a family business, who has to both earn a paycheck for myself and cover the ones for everybody else, I can tell you the CEO has every right to sing Working for a Living - but the reviewer’s snarky comment about this is just one of many things he got wrong. Don’t let this review cheat you out of a good time. Go see this play. I’ll wager you will leave smiling and agreeing more with me than this reviewer.— October 2, 2018 9:52 a.m.
