aardvark: I would hope that the courts would be busy should this con job woo San Diegans.

I would also hope San Diegans would be busy dropping their subscriptions to the U-T, which gave such huge play to an utterly meaningless proposal. Best, Don Bauder

Don: If I may, I will answer your question posed to Mike Murphy.

I go to the convention center once a year. For the Auto Show. And rest assured--I don't think there are too many room nights generated by that event.

Mike Murphy: Digging up dirt -- and tossing in money -- are the common methods for influencing politicians. Best, Don Bauder

Murphyjunk: Good analogy. Subsidizing a dishonest out-of-town billionaire family guarantees a rundown city and lousy football to boot. (Pun intended.) Best, Don Bauder

Well, Don, I suppose it would have hurt your story line to mention that Mnuchin left Goldman Sachs in 2002, a full decade before Hillary made those highly paid speeches. And what good what it have been to mention that the FDIC is government owned, but all the loses are funded by reserves from insurance premium charges to member banks? The US taxpayer did not pay one thin dime for those banking losses, they were from private funds, but better to just let your readers think Mnuchin made money off of the taxpayer's back.

What a hack!

Ponzi: Corned beef and pastrami on rye sounds like a great combination, but I would prefer Swiss or Jarlsberg cheese to American cheese. Best, Don Bauder

Murphyjunk: Americans get several varying stories on how much money was spent -- and where it came from -- in the bank bailout. Best, Don Bauder

All for profit so-called universities and colleges should be investigated. The word university and college are over used and applied to many schools that are nothing more than trade schools. While there is nothing wrong with a trade school they should not be using the term college or university. It is kind of like Joe's Bank or the First National Bar and Grill.

Don, I am now beginning to wonder when the City Hall puppets are going to change the name of San Diego to Manchestertown to confirm what we all know now.

Can't wait for Steve's next volume, but the speed of corruption is so fast here that The Reader will have to assign him a daily update column, but then you already do that.

However, since "Corruption R Us" is now the motto of American politics in San Diego, Sacramento and WashDC, we need more professors to join with Steve to try to keep ahead of the sewer tidal waves of destruction our politicians are creating, at least until they change the name of American Democracy to American Oligarchy to confirm what we also know already.

Visduh: It appears the so-called clean break is a bit of a myth. Best, Don Bauder

Aug. 3, 2014

Murphyjunk: That would be an interesting study. However, I don't think for-profit colleges in the main seduce politicians who have graduated from them. The for-profits spend massive amounts on lobbying, and the pols rake it in and block reform legislation attempts. Best, Don Bauder

Yes, "if it bleeds it leads."

Yes, frivolous lawsuits have been filed because of the ADA. So if the Law is in such good order, it will weed out the bad lawyers in the courts, no? If not, the case(s) must be good ones, no?

Murphyjunk: I don't trust Trump to deal astutely with any "delicate" subject. Best, Don Bauder

Gang and gang members are nothing more than domestic terrorists. They should be rounded up and prosecuted as terrorists. Any gang member should receive an LWOP enhancement for any crime conviction. Gangs have killed more people than all the terrorists combined have.

Murphyjunk: The word "gangturds"is a new one on me, but it seems apt. Best, Don Bauder
