Additional locations in Carlsbad and Mission Valley. Ruby’s is part of a themed ’40s-diner chain. Red-leatherette-and-chrome booths, white walls, portholes, old Coca-Cola signs, and that view to Hawaii. Good-sized servings -- try their omelets. Open daily. Inexpensive.

This place is great for out-of-town guests, because you walk down the end of the pier.
But, for a burger joint...and a 50s one (which I usually love), it's not my favorite. The burgers don't come with fries. How lame is that?
Their breakfasts are horrible.
But, go for lunch, order fries on the side, and enjoy looking at the ocean.
