SD Beer Weekend returns with Rhythm & Brews

More than 30 breweries, plus food, music, and soul

Yay beer!
Yay beer!

“As summer gets rolling and the days grow longer and warmer, we wanted to create another weekend for beer geeks to celebrate,” enthuses San Diego Brewers Guild Executive Director Erik Fowler as he describes the motivation behind SD Beer Weekend. The fourth annual iteration of Beer Weekend takes place June 27 through the 29th and is highlighted by the Rhythm & Brews festival, taking place in downtown Vista on the 28th.

Upcoming Event

Rhythm & Brews 2025

  • Saturday, June 28, 2025, noon to 4 p.m.
  • Vista Village, Vista Village Drive at Highway 78, Vista
  • Age Limit: 21+ / $65 - $90

More

Although Beer Weekend is celebrated by breweries throughout the county, the weekend’s flagship event has a distinctly North County touch. Fowler continues, “We've kept this event hyper-local, from rad North County bands such as Loom and Soulseller to a bunch of our favorite Vista breweries. There are a lot of soulless beer festivals run by distributors, but not this one. You can expect the brewers, owners, and local teams at each booth to be pouring the best of the best.”

The more than 30 breweries on hand at Rhythm & Brews include Abnormal Beer Co., Belching Beaver Brewery, Burgeon Beer Company, Fall Brewing Company, Pure Project, Craft Coast Beer & Tacos, and Thorn Brewing Co. Guests can enjoy unlimited tasters from 1-4 pm, and have the opportunity to absorb some of that alcohol with food from an assortment of vendors, including 7 Siblings, Meche's Fish Tacos, and Ms. Potato Food Truck.

Another big Beer Weekend event is set to take place at Vista’s AVO Playhouse on Friday, June 27: The Beer vs. Wine Sip-Off. Attendees can participate in a blind taste test of San Diego wines and beers, then debate the merits of each prior to voting for favorites. Fowler and his guild cohorts, of course, believe the contest will be one-sided, “We're biased, but beer is going to take this debate.”

Upcoming Event

The Beer vs. Wine Sip-Off

  • Friday, June 27, 2025, 7 p.m.
  • Avo Playhouse, 303 Main Street, Vista
  • Age Limit: Not available

San Diego Brewer’s Guild is active throughout the year; besides SD Beer Weekend, it is hosting another event in July where local beer loyalists can cheer on their preferred brewery. “The Brewer Games are coming to Ballast Point Miramar on July 19th. It's going to be SD's best breweries competing in a series of beer-related games. We're excited to see this one in action and hope industry professionals and beer geeks alike join to watch their favorite.”

SD Beer Weekend was first held in 2022 as part of the Brewer’s Guild's 25th anniversary celebration. While the event has since taken on a life of its own, it originally began as a smaller extension of autumn’s San Diego Beer Week, which once again this year will feature its Capital of Craft Beer Fest along with county-wide cleanup events.

Rhythm & Brews tickets are available for $75, with a VIP option for entry an hour earlier at $90 per ticket.
