Sorry It’s Over nutshell, Electric Dream Machine baby, True Stories split, The Lost Monarchs jam, Irawati & Webber debut

“I was literally all alone and everything was definitely not okay”

Sorry Its Over

A new Sorry It’s Over single called “Handkerchiefs and Handgrenades” has racked up around 5000 Spotify plays. “This was the first song I wrote for this project a few years ago,” says Louis Petrella. “I remember sitting in my room writing down ‘you’re not alone, it’s all okay,’ when in reality I was literally all alone and everything was definitely not okay. In a nutshell, the song’s about just remembering that you’re not alone, no matter how much you feel you are, and also just the importance of self-love.”

Electric Dream Machine

With a stage show inspired by electronic dance music festivals, Electric Dream Machine features bandleader, show designer, and electronic drummer Ian Patrick Cler; singer-choreographer Jazmine Rogers; singer-lightshow designer Diana Lynne Ferrer; sound designer-synth player Matt Giles; Jacob “Cubby” Miranda (bass, synth bass); and David Yuter (synths and keytar). The latter member recently began playing with partially reunited 80s hitmakers The Babys, formerly fronted by singer John Waite.

True Stories

“Next up,” says True Stories frontman Bart Mendoza, “is a Spanish vinyl release set for Spring 2023, a split ten-inch album of rarities with Alvino & The Dwells on the flip, called Capitulo Uno. The True Stories side collects four of my originals, all out of print rarities and an outtake, a cover of the dB’s song ‘Lonely Is (As Lonely Does).’ The Alvino side features five instrumental songs, including two David Fleminger originals and a surf-styled ELO cover.”

The Lost Monarchs

According to The Lost Monarchs, “What really defines the band is the live show, where jams grow and change from night to night.” Many of their live performances are available as free downloads. “We are on the way to completing our fourth studio album,” reports the band, which appears Saturday, October 29 at Wikiup Bed and Breakfast.

Irawati & Webber

British cellist Sophie Webber and Indonesian-born pianist Ines Irawati will debut Roots: Transcriptions of Romantic Works for Cello and Piano on November 12 at Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church. The album features twentieth century romantic music by composers such as Fauré, Schumann, De Falla, and Massenet.
