Denny’s adds new Slam to breakfast menu in honor of Padres historic performance

Big Hits, Small Bites

Denny’s Chief Breakfast Officer Roger Bacon: “Congratulations to the San Diego Padres for becoming the first team in baseball history to hit five grand slams in six games. We only wish there were some fans there to see it! But even so, as the industry leader in slam-based foodstuffs, we’d be remiss not to find a way to honor their achievement. It’s only a half-season, so we thought it fitting to make it half the food of our regular Grand Slam. But it’s still every bit as delicious, just like the Padres’ grand slams have been every bit as exciting! Of course, that first one from Fernando Tatis, Jr. broke an unwritten rule of baseball, since he swung away on 3-0 with his team comfortably in the lead. So we’re adding an unwritten surcharge to the Padres Slam. Unwritten in the menu, anyway. Don’t worry; it’ll show up on your check!”

Being a light eater, I'll take the Padres Slam at Denny's and LETS GO OAKLAND for tonight's game. The Bay Area has better sports teams, and we all like hanging with winners.

Sept. 4, 2020

I guess that is true, if you exclude the Dodgers, Padres, Lakers, Clippers, Kings and Ducks. NFL just started, so it is early, but I will concede that one, mainly due to the Chargers.

Sept. 14, 2020

I was comparing San Diego to the Bay Area, not Los Angeles, etc. San Diego has never had a team that won the World Series or Super Bowl. The Padres are having a great year.

Sept. 14, 2020

OK, my bad. But is that really a valid comparison, comparing the Bay area and it's 5 major league teams against San Diego and it's lone team, the Padres? BTW, though they have identical records at this point, the Padres did best the A's in the season series. And at 6 games back from the Padres at this point, and losing the season series,do we even need to talk about the Giants? The Padres are indeed having a great year. Too bad the play in the same league as the Dodgers.

Just my opinion.

Opinions vary.
