All ages, no cover… The Jazz 88 Blues Jam with host J. Otis Williams and Mark Augustin goes down at Proud Mary’s Southern Bar & Grill (5500 Kearny Mesa Road) from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Always free and family-friendly.

The San Diego Symphony presents a Bayside Summer Concert at the Embarcadero Marina Park South (200 Marina Park Way) with Gilbert Castellanos celebrating Mambo King Tito Puente, featuring Doug Meeuwsen, Justo Almario, Daniel Reagan, Omar Lopez, Irving Flores, Johnny “Dandy” Rodriguez, Mike Holguin, Tommy Aros, Lorraine Castellanos, Mariela Contreras, and Mike Benge at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $18 to $65… Vocalist Ruby Blue leads a trio with Bob Boss and Rob Thorsen for the Westgate Poolside Series at the Westgate Hotel (1055 Second Avenue) from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. $10 at the door.

Friday 15
Trio De Janiero with Lori Bell, Ron Satterfield, and Tommy Aros play the Happy Hour at the Handlery Hotel (950 Hotel Circle North) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. No cover, no minimum, validated parking… The Gilbert Castellanos Trio with Joshua White and Rob Thorsen play the Plaza Bar at the Westgate Hotel from 8 p.m. for a $20 food/drink minimum.

NYC vocalist Kendra Shank teams up with San Diego pianist Geoffrey Keezer to play a CD-release show at Dizzy’s (4275 Mission Bay Drive) celebrating their new album Half Moon at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door.

The Sunday jam session takes place at 98 Bottles (2400 Kettner Boulevard) featuring Hugo Suarez, Harley Magsino, and Fernando Gomez from 2:30 to 5 p.m. No cover, but you must be 21+ to attend… Sassy Sunday with Lorraine Castellanos and Bobby Cressey returns to the Turf Supper Club (1116 25th) from 8 to 11 p.m. No cover.
