I’ve picked a big, technically advanced, epic-style movie, which is Pacific Rim (USA, 2013, Warner Brothers). It serves up robots punching monsters! I don’t really know what else needs to be said. There is a hunky guy with his shirt off, and one of the best female heroes to come along in a long time. Watch it again, and then watch the special features.
On Google Play and Vudu.
And then a smallish character-driven piece (and New York City is a character). The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (USA,1974, United Artists), but the original only! Gritty 1970s New York; actors who looked like real people; the desperate drive to deliver the ransom; and the ending! Achoo!
