Steve-O confesses to pranking jackass SeaWorld

Steve-O, the ballsy Banksy, poses before his handiwork.

Even a jackass knows SeaWorld’s got to go.

Steve-O (Jackass 1-3) had been called many things — daring, stupid, dipped in poo — but never an animal rights activist. That changed yesterday after O admitted to being the prankster who handily duct-taped a “Sucks” addendum over SeaWorld freeway signage.

O posted video yesterday on his YouTube channel in which he boldly proclaimed, “I’m putting my foot down for Shamu!” before going about his scofflaw task. The entire two-day process is brilliantly distilled to its two-minute-and-five-second essence. Thelma Schoonmaker couldn’t have whittled it down any better.

Abandoning his traditional leopard-print Speedo, a nattily attired O valiantly attempted to ascend the mighty road sign, first with traditional wall-scaling Adam West bat-gear. The multi-camera shoot captured every moment of O’s agonizing struggle as a follow-up fling with a rope ladder proved equally unsuccessful (and painful).

Breaking The Law! Steve-O

Not until a trip to Home Depot landed a metal extension ladder was O able to consummate the caper. Below his YouTube confession, O asks that you “Be an awesome person by sharing this video with the hashtag #SeaWorldSucks, and wish me luck with the law!”

Fox 5 reports Caltrans released the following response to O’s video essay: “We consider defacing public property, at a cost to state taxpayers, an unlawful act and a dangerous distraction for motorists. We will refer all information to the California Highway Patrol.”

How can anything that causes drivers to take their eyes off their cellphones long enough to pay attention to the road be considered a dangerous distraction? Think of how many tax-payers’ dollars have gone to policemen rescuing strays from of trees. If ever there was a cool cat up a tree, it’s Steve-O. Give him a slap on the wrist and be done with it.
