A federal jury in Tampa has found Kenyon Lamont Williams, a San Diego tax preparer, guilty of filing false tax claims and wire fraud.

In the first half of 2012, Williams discussed an interest-income scheme with two Tampa tax preparers, both of whom have pleaded guilty.

Williams prepared 168 fraudulent tax returns for the year 2011 using bogus interest-income figures provided by the two Tampa tax preparers. Those 168 tax returns resulted in payment of $517,744 in phony refunds.
