SUNBENDR features singer-bassist Chris Cote and singer-guitarist Brandon Parkhurst, both from Kut U Up, who were asked to tour and open for all 56 dates of the 2002 Green Day/blink-182 U.S. tour. A single called "Stick Up" was released in summer 2025, featuring drummer Frank Dixon’s (Nancy, Sister Juanita), synth textures by Tom DeLonge. and backing vocals from George Perks (Mogwai, Doves) and Benjamin Ward. The single was produced and mixed by Perks at Tom DeLonge’s home studio in March 2025, with drums tracked by Chris Prescott (Pinback) at Belly Of The Whale.
Another single called “Stay All Night” dropped in September 2025, recorded at the same five-song session with producer George Perks. Around the same time, the band filmed a performance as part of the Pacific View Sessions, shot in frontman Chris Coté’s former second-grade classroom, now transformed into the Pacific View Arts Center’s fully functioning audio/video studio. It was followed by a single for "Crime Wave."
“‘Crime Wave’ is SUNBENDR playing a house party song,” says Chris Coté. “Frank Dixon’s drums kick off the track with authority, then my bass starts rolling through as Brandon Parkhurst enters the chat with some trippy guitar work, then the story begins. This one goes from weird to anthemic and back again.”
