Background:
85 years old in 2011, sax player Frank LaMarca made his mark in the 1950s and 1960s, playing with Charlie Parker and Art Pepper.
Hailing from Pittsburgh, but a fixture on the San Diego jazz scene since 1970, LaMarca plays tenor, alto and soprano sax, as well as flute and clarinet. He’s best known for his stint with Benny Hollman’s Big Band from 1975 through 2009.
