On Friday, August 31, the San Diego Festival of Sail opens at 9 a.m. This festival is "the largest Tall Ship festival on the west coast hosted by the Maritime Museum of San Diego, [and] will transform the North Embarcadero into a nautical theme park. More than twenty tall ships and other fascinating vessels from around the world will be visiting San Diego." The festival will run through Monday, September 3 at 7:00 p.m.
The best places to view the sail parade are San Diego Embarcadero, Embarcadero Marina Park North, Harbor Island, Shelter Island, Ferrys Landing Restaurants & Shopping, Centennial Park, and Cabrillo National Monument. Tickets to board Pilot and participate in the sail parade are still available for $25. The free festival will provide a petting zoo, cannon battles, a food court, vendor stands, and a kids' zone.
