Party Too Hard, Pick Up Trash

During this holiday weekend, if you party too hard in Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, or Mission Bay and find yourself with only a ticket to show for it, the City of San Diego may waive the citation if you agree to report for cleanup duty.

The City Attorney's office, working in conjunction with the police department, Parks and Rec, and Discover PB, launched the "Instant Justice" program to limit minor crimes around the beach and bay communities.

Those wanting to participate need to show up at the Discover PB's offices on July 5 with identification, the citation, and forty bucks and be ready to pick up trash from 9am to 2pm. After time is served, the citations will be thrown into the garbage with of the rest of the trash from the holiday weekend.

“Due to the high number of offenders on the Fourth of July holiday weekend, this is a great way for those who are cited to give back to our beach community by performing community work service at the beach and instantly receive the benefit of criminal charges not being filed against them,” was the statement from Chief Deputy City Attorney Regan Savalla.
