Courthouse News Service reported today (July 18) that San Diegans for Open Government and the San Diego Navy Broadway Complex Coalition have filed a suit charging that a planned waterfront restaurant in San Diego Bay violates environmental laws. Defendants include the port, Coastal Commission, Sunroad Enterprises and Sunroad Harbor Island. The suit is filed under the California Environmental Quality Act and California Coastal Act. Cory Briggs, one of three persons who initially called for Mayor Bob Filner to resign over alleged sexual harassment, represents the plaintiffs in the complaint.

The End is Near. (fizzle) It appears that even the Reader is being hollowed out, albeit slowly. Non-staff blogs are closeted. Staff blogs no longer have short quotes from comments on the home page, and have been slowly muscled aside by commerce, once-effective email notifications of article/blog activity, have fizzled. 'Twill be interesting to see how the fifth-columnists (oh, I might as well get credit for the pun) invade and destroy every entity that appears to be effective from within . . .
