The county's unemployment rate dropped to 8.4% in September from 9% in August, according to the state Employment Development Department. However, the county gained only 200 jobs in the month. The ONLY jobs this region produces, or 90%+, are low paying low tax base service sector jobs.

San Diego USED to produce the "Patriot Missile" and a million other high dollar, high tax base products. Now it is hotel maid and janitor jobs.

As we have discussed many times, there are lots of overpaid people in the public sector; in particular, many public retirement benefits are excessively generous. But the horrifyingly egregious abuses are in CEO, COO, and CFO jobs at private sector companies. Best, Don Bauder
