He began his studies in the fall of last year, but dropped out last month. He used at least four guns, a shotgun and two handguns in the mass murder. HOLMES BOUGHT A TICKET. The Federal Bureau of Investigation says that Holmes bought a ticket to the Batman movie, dressed in the black outfit worn by the movie villain. Then he propped up the emergency exit door and went to his car which was parked nearby. Presumably he picked up his weapons from his car. He reentered the theater and set off the smoke bomb and began firing multiple weapons.

People in the audience were terrified, frantically trying to exit. Some could have been trampled. Ten died in the theater and two in a hospital. There are 50 injuries, 9 critical.

Holmes told police that he had booby-trapped his Aurora apartment with bombs. Experts found it was true. The bomb squads and fire trucks are there. People have been evacuated from the building and nearby ones. It may be days before the experts get into the booby-trapped apartment.

Holmes grew up in Rancho Penasquitos and graduated from Westview High School and the University of California Riverside. He was pursuing a PhD in neuroscience until dropping out recently.
