The oil spill has rendered my usually sunny disposition rather maudlin these days. I am sad. I wish that things were better for our planet and all its living creatures. Hiking Cowles Mountain has been something of a lifesaver these days, as it reminds me that even amidst the ugliness in our world, there are things of beauty that we must keep close to us, even though we cannot touch them. I am not a religious person, but sometimes I just know there is something greater than ourselves, and it will take care of us if we take care of it.

Wow, this slipped by without my noticing it, must have been bounced from the home page before anyone could see it or comment.

Beautiful picture, MsG.

The situation with BP is beyond disastrous. And yet people go on driving their SUVs like there's no tomorrow. Guess what, there really may not be a tomorrow, the way things are going.

I just needed to vent that day, and as I was climbing up the mountain, I turned around and this is what I saw. It changed my perspective. It really doesn't warrant any comments, except what you said. I can barely read the paper about this because it is so upsetting and I have no ideas on how to fix it. I think the general feeling is helplessness, which is not good. I'm glad you like the photo. I like it, too.

RE climbing Cowles Mountain:

You know the purpose of changing perspective, and that is good. There is a reason to be prepared for a new heaven and a new earth.

The path to becoming Buddha is one of taking steps like that, and I say that encouragingly as a confirmed and lapsed Catholic.

The most beautiful thing I can imagine is the Tree of Life taking root from this solar system and slowly spreading throughout the galaxy as a natural extension of the Original Commandment to be fruitful and multiply. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THERE IS TO FIX US RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW, and we have already been shown the path to take to get there.

As the Vulcan say, life long and prosper.

Just when I think I have you all figured out, someone like a2z comes along and suprises me. I suppose my purpose now is to try to be a decent person and hopefully by extension have some sort of positive effect on someone else. I am not always successful.
