Bringing Kaos to the Media: Tom Romano Plans His Own Comeback

'Kaos Cut Loose in San Diego' hopes to expand on Kaos Tom's past romance with local rockers

“I’m getting ready to gear back up. I want to do this.” Kaos Kut Loose in San Diego is what Tom Romano, aka Kaos Tom is planning to launch. He explains how this will be different than what he's done in the past.

“What I’m gonna do," he says by phone, "is go out on the street randomly with the kinds of questions that have answers that can go either way. I’m hoping,” he confides, “that they will go in the direction of comedy.”

Comedy?

“I’ve always been about the independent artist and music. This time, I wanna show that there’s a lot of different things out there. Different walks of life.”

Romano's media outreach has been dark for about a year, due he says to a death in the family. I remind him of the place we first met - backstage at a gentleman's club in Kearny Mesa a few years ago, where he was producing the debut gig of the now defunct Back2Black, an AC/DC tribute band.

“I’m a total music guy,” he says, “and my shows have always been about the artist, and talk.” He says that his Kaos Nation Music aired in the past on the Internet on airradio.net. He’d like to expand his base this time around to include ULM, Ultimate Local Music on the Internet, and possibly what the music industry calls terrestrial radio.

He thinks the community access radio station KNSJ at 89.1 FM in Descanso is a fit, but Romano's eyes are set on the bigger prizes of “Rock 105.3, or KGB FM, or 91X. Any of those stations," he says, "would be awesome.”

For now, Kaos Kut Loose in San Diego may start life as a podcast. Romano admits he needs a little more production space than his current residence, a houseboat anchored behind Seaforth Landing, will allow.

“Right now, my studio is down. I gotta find a new location. I can do a web cast from the boat, but I’m limited for room here. Maybe do an audio show off the boat.”
