TV Girl release interactive video to "Girls Like Me"

TV Girl recently released an interactive video for their catchy single "Girls Like Me" that allows viewers to make a cameo via webcam shots.

Directed by L.A.-based duo fourclaps, the video was filmed via Skype with TV Girl fans and friends (you may recognize Ryan Solomon of DUDES in the mix) who sing along, strike poses, and perform a choreographed finger jive while passing around one of the band’s 45s.

After linking the app to Facebook, you'll be prompted to take a webcam photo to appear in a montage that evolves with each new participant.

Check it out here:

TV Girl blew up in 2010 when, within a week of posting the track online, “If You Want It” had garnered attention from Pitchfork, the UK Guardian, and a BBC podcast.

The song sampled Todd Rundgren’s 1973 hit “Hello It’s Me” in a ‘verby jam which Pitchfork called “balmy and inviting, despite its narrative about a drunken love interest's sloppy evening.”

Now, the track is all but obsolete after Rhino Entertainment, a subsidiary of Warner Music Group, issued notices to websites to remove the song in June, 2011.

To date, TV Girl has released two well-received EPs (download zip here) and a full-length mixtape through Das Racist's Himanshu's Greedhead label, available for free via Stereogum.

A new EP is scheduled to release summer 2013.
