"Wobble Events was born out of a mission to widen the view of club dance music in San Diego,” says promoter Bryen Beglinger. “It's a little depressing to have to go up to LA or San Francisco whenever you want to hear something new or even just something good. The downtown music scene has been stagnant for so long that it's not easy to break out anything new here. Wobble is our attempt to bring a little spark of beauty from some of the underground scenes to the more mainstream club scene. We are the alternative to the alternative here in SD."
Wobble has seen sets from artists including Kraddy, Tipper, Treavor Moontribe, and David Starfire. Tomorrow, Friday June 24, San Francisco producer Eskmo will headline Spin Nightclub with what bleep.com calls “Masterfully produced… sophisticated, post-Dilla hip-hop funk.”
“This show is dedicated to honoring the memory of our beloved friend Preston [Grover],” Beglinger writes on the Facebook event page. “We will miss you very much my friend. Continue your journey in peace.”
Opening the night is DJ tag team duo Karate Skillz (Mark Zabala vs. divaDanielle), and locals Jonny Quest and Michael Mannino. Look forward to cutting-edge visuals, aerial performances, hooping, massages, and belly-dancing at this event, which goes until 4 a.m. Doors open at 10.
