Possible Sequel? Harry Potter & the Shoot-Out in the Multiplex Parking Lot
Two cops, hot on the trail of a child pornographer using the opening of a Harry Potter movie as an occasion to test out his pick-up lines, were shot by fellow officers as they tried to arrest the unarmed man outside a crowded move theatre. The suspect sustained a bullet to the foot.
Where is Alan Funt's kid with the hidden camera? Or is Tim Conway in Connecticut filming a sequel to They Went That-A-Way & That-A-Way?
The shootings took place in the parking lot of the AMC Loews 20 in Plainville, After resisting arrest, Eric Gothberg, 45, was winged by an officer's bullet after he suddenly reached for his waistband.
Both officers were taken to a hospital in nearby Hartford where they were treated and released for non-life threatening injuries.
Cinema Treasures calls the AMC Loews Plainview, "not one of the most attractive of the newer Loews Theatres, but it has an attractive entrance and large spacious lobby." When the only words of praise given a theatre concern the look and size of the lobby, you know that you're in multiplex hell. Sounds like a good place to keep children away from on all counts.
Forgive my lack of customary lame puns and in-references, but I have never made it all the way through a Harry Potter picture. It's not my dance. When asked to review the third installment for a radio program, I dozed off after about a reel and didn't awaken until the closing credits began to roll.
David Elliott, on the other hand, loves him some Potter.
