If Common Shareholders Are Wiped Out in Fannie/Freddie Bailout, Brandes Could Take Another Hit
They claim you have to be patient but if these stocks are going to zero, patience is worthless. I would have more respect for Brandes if they just admitted they blew it. This economy is smacking everyone in the face. Great article Don, COLT— September 6, 2008 7:05 p.m.
Money Flows Out of Brandes's Investment Firm, As Stock Portfolio Fails To Perform
Don, big article in the bible of Pensions and Investments.. Reply to #2 http://www.pionline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID… Looks like big clients are on edge over this lousy performance of late. What do you think they saw in some of this stuff? Best, COLTON— August 22, 2008 8:48 p.m.

Don, Beautiful wife, ugly portfolio! Did you see they own a ton of FRE and FNM? Do a search on yahoo or gurufocus. Wow..their U.S. portfolio is pushing a 50% decline now. Staggering given their track record up to 2006. Best, COLT— August 20, 2008 8:18 p.m.
Charles Brandes defies market, buys stocks of daily newspapers
Notice their huge stake in FNM and FRE!— August 20, 2008 8:04 p.m.
Brandes Gets Mug in Newspaper, but Moneywise Gets Mugged by Newspapers
Reply to #7 Why in the World, given the collapsing economics of the newspaper industry, do you think they took suck large stakes in these things? Baffling as is their investments in Countrywide, Ford, GM, Wash Mutual, Homebuilders, etc....— August 6, 2008 1:13 p.m.
Union-Tribune is up for sale, company tells employees
Reply to Don, Don, what do you think can bring the newspaper industry around? I personally loved it when the Tribune had that late afternoon edition with updated stock quotes. That was a MISTAKE in my mind when they got rid of it. Do you remember it? It had a green front page? I couldn't wait for it to come out. I think if they had the business section have more personal finance stories, it would help. It appears the younger generation relies on the internet while us old guys like print media. Makes me think that newspapers are a dying breed as us old guys pass on. COLTON— August 6, 2008 1:10 p.m.

Reply to #24. If Tanya is out and about on the scene, she should switch to some cheaper clothes. I would hate to see $10,000 dresses ruined by all the Red Ink flowing from the stock picks of late. Hey, maybe they will surprise us and have a 100% up year. Then we will look like the idiots. Until then, my appletini awaits and please valet driver, don't be looking like a dog that hasn't eaten for a week begging for a buck. It really isn't a job an American should do.— August 5, 2008 8:42 p.m.

Money Flows Out of Brandes's Investment Firm, As Stock Portfolio Fails To Perform
Reply to #16 Don, you nailed it. They create little in the way of anything for America. The thing that these people don't realize is that the minute one of them became broke, the others would shun them faster than one of their Ferraris on the Autobon. Do you honestly think if one of them lost their fortune that the others would rally and ante up several hundred thousand a piece so they could invite their fallen back into the crowd? Never in a million years. One thing is for sure, if I ever got close to wealthy, I wouldn't be seen at one of these functions. I would be the recluse with my few real friends. I think that this stock market has proven that the best way to invest is to buy cheap index funds and dollar cost average your way in. You will BEAT 99.9% of money fund managers.— August 5, 2008 1:08 p.m.

What is amazing about the High Society crowd is how nasty most are towards the average person. I used to valet cars at these events, was polite, took great care of their ferraris etc and was constantly stiffed on tips. I guess they didn't get to be Billionaires by being generous. I became so bitter at the "rich, in" crowd that I would rather hang out with average folks and drink a few Buds than hobnob with these narcissistic, self-centered selfish losers. We valet drivers used to have a saying that the guy driving the Dodge was way more apt to tip than the guy with the Porsche. Also, many of the "Stiff" crowd would ever say thank you. Remember....the bible says the meek shall inherit the earth, not the rich and powerful. Nice article Don...COLTON— August 4, 2008 9:48 p.m.
