San Diego unions push transaction tax
There is a limit to how much they will buy back: "Berkshire plans to use cash on hand to fund repurchases, and repurchases will not be made if they would reduce Berkshire’s consolidated cash equivalent holdings below $20 billion." http://finance.boston.com/boston/news/read?GUID=1…— September 26, 2011 5:09 p.m.

"Its stock zoomed." Yeah, "A" shares went up about 8%. But remember, before today those same "A" shares were down almost 20% over the last year or so.— September 26, 2011 5:07 p.m.
San Diego unions push transaction tax
Yeah, but do you really think that 2 summers, 35+ yrs ago has any relevance to what she does today? 35 yrs ago, I was a finish carpenter working for a small company making high end custom cabinetry, not even close to what I did for the last 30 or so yrs. I wouldn't say Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft lost their asses in mortgage-backed securities as much as they lost because of them. They're a financial law firm. They lost a lot of their business and let about 1/3 of their associates go over the course of a couple of years but they still have well over 500 associates. Apparently, they're a tough gig, too. I once read that if a partner doesn't bring in at least $5 million in revenue on a consistent basis, he doesn't remain a partner for very long.— September 26, 2011 12:30 p.m.
Review: Killer Elite
We haven't watched it yet, too much football this weekend, I guess. I suppose it depends on your definition of "bombing". It sure ain't no Harry Potter, but according to Variety, as of last weeks totals(they haven't put out this weeks yet)there have been about 185 films released since Memorial Day and only about 30 or so have grossed $10 million or more opening weekend. So in that sense, if this film was a "bomb" on the first weekend, that means about 85% of the films released are bombs. Hmmmm, maybe you are right LOL. BTW in comparison with the Conan film, it only opened about $500k higher than this one. But it was also released in more theatres and only earned about $150 more per theatre. We'll see what happens in the next couple of weeks. Conan's gross dropped almost 70% the second week and has continued to fall precipitously every week since. It's theatre count was halved after 2 weeks and it was in barely 50 theatres last week. DeNiro's foreign market is usually pretty good, so we'll see what happens. That said, as you pointed out, Conan has a then, and presumably still, unknown and Killer Elite has DeNiro, though I don't know the size of his role.— September 26, 2011 10:22 a.m.

Poll Shows DeMaio In The Lead For Mayor
Not being a San Diego resident,I don't have a horse in the race. As such I don't really follow the propaganda that comes out during the course of a normal political campagn. That said however, I will say that in any election, for any office, I am skeptical of ANY poll that touts ANY candidate when said poll is conducted by, as in this case, a "supporter" of the candidate.— September 16, 2011 11:15 a.m.
Family talks about dead Coronado woman Rebecca Zahau
Are you for real??? Do you know how many marriages end in divorce??? 60%. I guess my wife and I skew those stats just a tad bit. Earlier this year we celebrated our 35th anniversary.— September 16, 2011 1:56 a.m.
Chargers Coach Norv Turner Has Yet to Emerge From Mountain Retreat
And Rex Ryan has "won it all" how many times?? Watch for the Chargers to have there butts handed to them this Sunday, and in front of a national audience no less. But at least look for the bright side. Since it's a road game, the Chargers don't have to worry about a blackout.— September 16, 2011 1:21 a.m.
Dig a Hole: Cliff Robertson
