Traffic Cop Questioned in Encinitas
how about this version of the above question: If you are actually guilty of the infraction, is it still right to beat the tickets just because you can?— July 17, 2012 6:38 p.m.
Padres 2012 Midseason Report Card and Analysis
I'm sure it didn't help being sent back to the same town where he played college ball. One would have to think that having TK as the litle Padres manager would be of benefit to him.— July 13, 2012 7:26 p.m.
Padres 2012 Midseason Report Card and Analysis
Enjoy your baseball writing as always, Refriedgringo. An especially difficult task when considering the teams performance thus far. Let me add this to your report. We were in Vegas a few days ago took in a 51's/Padres game. Let me just say that Hundley looked terrible. He did have a hit, a triple on a badly played ball by the CF. And he did throw out a runner, but he also alowed a couple of other stolen bases and threw another one away that allowed a runner to go to third. When I said he looked terrible, I mean that almost literally; he just looks extremely uncomfortable. To an extent, reminds me of Khalil Greene in early 2008. One last thing. I'm hoping that your "take Interstate 5 North for a little over an hour and exit Stadium Way" was done tongue in cheek. say that because I'm sure that you, of all people on SD, know that someone driving from SD to Dodger Stadium, for a 7:10 game, on a Friday, it's gonna be a little over an hour only in you consider 4 hrs to be " a little over an hour" LOL!!!! btw, I would give the Padre hitters an overall. at or near the bottom in nearly every meaningful stat, not a good thing.— July 13, 2012 8:06 a.m.
Technology Blogger Rejects Reason For Fireworks Mishap
I've always said, if you're gonna screw something up, then screw it up big time so EVERYONE notices. Way to go Garden State Fireworks. Mission accomplished. Gotta give those guys from Jersey their due credit, those I guess they won't be listing this one on their website as one of their "accomplishments". BTW, what kind of computer was it and who wrote the software. Or could it be that it really WAS it just "operator error" and the simply don't want to sully their "reputation" by admitting it? LOL— July 13, 2012 7:25 a.m.

I doubt very much that you aren't as intelligent as I am. I'm just an average guy who doesn't know a lot about anything, but does know something about a lot. And I know that that if you were so inclined, you could have read this document in probably less than than 2 minutes.— July 13, 2012 7:10 a.m.
San Bernardino Council Votes for Bankruptcy
I think we've been down this road before. It's not 55% for everyone. It's up to 55%, depending on some variables and some retirees will have no reduction at all. I don't have a pension, so I am not the best to interpret it, but here's the actual plan submitted. Maybe someone smarter than I will take a look at it. http://www.rib.uscourts.gov/newhome/central_falls…— July 12, 2012 9:27 a.m.

Remember that some of theses foreclosures are taking a long time. have read of some people going as long as 3 years with out making any payments before the banks even started the process. I know from talking to friends in real estate that a lot of the foreclosures that they have dealt with, the banks have simply ignored the taxes, much like they ignored upkeep on the homes, until the property sells. Then it becomes part of the negotiation of the sale. I know it sounds counter productive, but I would guess that with so many foreclosures, some smaller munis have made so many cuts that they just don't have the budget and or personnel to go after them.— July 11, 2012 6:21 p.m.

I don't think they bypassed it so much as simply followed the second alternative. You can look up the bill if you like but the short version is a muni has o go thru a process of notifying all of the "interested Parties", they have a set time to respond, then they choose a mediator who is supposed to make a "neutral evaluation". That's where they have 60 days to try and come to an agreement. We all know that Brown wanted this to keep the public unions happy. San Berdo took door # 2. Basically, they had to come to a finding that the financial state of the local public entity jeopardizes the health, safety, or well-being of the resident of the local public entity’s jurisdiction or service area absent the protections of Chapter 9 . Specifically that the entity will not be able to pay it obligations within the next 60 days.. I do find it interesting that one of there people said that current employee pension obligations will not be affected— July 11, 2012 6:09 p.m.
San Bernardino Council Votes for Bankruptcy
According to their city attorney, the city budget officials had falsified documents for 13 of the last 16 years, in order to hide the city's deficit spending. "For the last 16 years the budget prepared for the council showed the city was in the black," Penman said, not naming those allegedly responsible. "The mayor and the council were not given accurate documents." Officials said the city's fiscal crisis has been years in the making, compounded by the nation's crushing recession and exacerbated by escalating pension costs, lucrative labor agreements, Sacramento's raid on redevelopment funds and a city reserve that is tapped out.— July 11, 2012 9:01 a.m.
Bread & Cie by word of mouth gets into Henry’s, Whole Foods, plus Vons, Albertsons, Ralphs
I believe it was $85 million. It was purchased by Bernie Ecclestone's daughter Petra. She also bought a place in Chelsea for about $90 million. I know her father is a billionaire, but omfg!! Nice payday for the 3 agents that handled the sale, though. The problem with coastal OC, and I assume you mean south coast, is that it's too congested. When we sold our condo in SD a couple of years ago, we used part of the money to buy a place in Dana Point. Nothing spectacular, just a little 2br place a couple of blocks from DP harbor. We've spent a decent amount of time there over the years and there's really just no large estates there to speak of, at least close to the coast. Yeah, if you have $10-20 million, you can find a huge house in Newport Coast or CDM, but almost all of them on on small lots, usually about 1/2 acre. I think think the most expensive place on the market right now in South OC is in Crystal Cove. It's only .85 acres, 2 lots combined, about 18K sq ft and last time I looked it was listed at $35 million. If I have that kind of money, I'm living in Malibu. Probably dozens of places, on the beach, in the colony, above PCH, small lots, multi acre parcels, you name it. The variety is so much greater in Malibu than south OC, and as contradictory as it may seem, I think you get more for your money.— July 11, 2012 8:54 a.m.
