Former Charger Seeks Seat on Sweetwater Schools Board
I don't know of Grossman's suitability, or lack thereof to serve; it's not my concern and frankly I don't care. My comment was not in reference to that . It was in reference to someone who seems to profess not even knowing who he is, while still passing judgement on him As I said, while not even being a SD resident, I know who he is and that he is running. That's it . Period. Nothing else was meant to be inferred or implied.— November 3, 2012 2:04 p.m.
This is one of the benches after sealing ....
What I meant to add was that something had to have been done to remove the grey before oiling/sealing. Most likely sanding, though if the greying was fairly recent, a good power washing might do the job. That doesn't seem to be the case here and in any event, despite the density of ipe, it would seem at least a light sanding would be in order. That said, my experience with ipe is limited; not nearly as much as with teak and cedar, so if MR. Grant would like to correct me on any points or add to what I said, please feel free to do so. I'm always up for picking up a little knowledge from an expert, which I am definitely not in this case.— November 3, 2012 11:31 a.m.

Really, surfpuppy619?? I mean come on. Aren't you a home owner? Are you really that unaware and unobservant? Or are you possibly just being a dork, albeit a well meaning one?— November 3, 2012 10:55 a.m.

Well, he is a teacher in San Diego. According to Hoover High School Vice President and Director of Student and Community Affairs Andreas Trakas: “Mr. Grossman has helped change the culture of our high school. Students who have issues both at home and school know that they have a connection with someone who cares and who can make a difference for them… I have seen Mr. Grossman use his unique and effective skills of communicating to students about ‘raising their collective bar’ personally, socially, as well as academically. His ability to share his own personal experience in order to develop a connection with some of our most challenging students and building trust and support has been a benefit to our school and community. He has gone as far as taking one of our homeless football players into his home to live, and has helped him do a complete 180 degree turn; he has now accepted a full athletic scholarship to the University of Arizona.” I guess that's a decent start. Oh and BTW, I don't even live in SD and I still know who he is. Maybe you shouldn't criticize what you don't understand.— November 3, 2012 9:03 a.m.
Who's Mr. Clean? Larry Remer? Voice of San Diego?
I think John Alessio owned 5th Avenue Financial Centre. He opened Mr A's not too long after the building was done. '65/'66 somewhere in that time frame I think. I remember reading that when the Alessio family sold it, Mr. A's that is, after he died, the purchase contract included a requirement that the name Mr. A's be retained. could be off a little on the dates, that was a long time ago. most of this was thrown around the papers when both Smith and Alessio died in the '90's The last of the Alessio bros died a few years ago, so I would imagine their kids own the building, unless they sold it.— November 3, 2012 2:49 a.m.
Ex-U-T owner was "good guy" in Romney's alleged auto bailout profiteering
Twelfth richest in the US, actually, at $20.5 billion, and 14th in the world, coincidentally right behind the Koch boys. As for "Adelson's very ample ass", I wouldn't know; it's really not something I have an interest in. hahaha— November 2, 2012 5:53 p.m.
Escondido child abuser wants to move to L.A.
It was the Ca. version of Jessica's law about 5 or 6 yrs ago. But I think it only applied to state prison sentences because it was the CDCR that has to deal with it and obviosly they handle only operations for the state prison and parole system. I think pc4019 still applies to everyone else. Don't know for sure though, so I could be incorrect.— November 2, 2012 5:44 p.m.
Chula Vista Installs New Strip Club Regulations - UPDATE
Yeah, I kind of think it's the opposite. The city gov't likes naked woman, I mean really likes them. Didn't someone in the CV city gov't, the city mgr I think, get fired a while back over porn at work? Yeah, they all like naked women. They just don't want anyone to know it.— November 2, 2012 5:22 p.m.
Like a bolt out of the blue, Disney buys LucasFilm
Well, try and look on the bright side. More Star Wars, yeah, which I don't mind so much btw, but finally, FINALLY, the last of the Twightlight films. Thank God because it's about f*cking time. LOL— November 2, 2012 5:15 p.m.
