Marilyn Monroe -- Lives Her Life Like a Body in a Box
In 2007, I was at a celebration of life ceremony for a musican in L.A. A long-time studio musician said that to this day, no one can do with music what arranger Gene Page did. I have to agree. I think without Gene, many of these big-time artists have petered out. The quality just isn't there.— August 27, 2009 11:14 p.m.
Prison Inmates (Dedicated to Dominick Dunne)
"Jesus Hernandez..." That made me lol. You must have met my ex, Josh. He was always reading the Bible between visits to the pen. My advice to women out there--if a guy is always reading the Bible, don't date him without doing a background check first. My friend is a foster mom, and this girl's dad "found Jesus" while in prison, so she was going to forgive him for everything. I had talk with herabout howpeople don't change without a lot of therapy and how Jesus looks good when you've got nothing better to do, but that will be out the window theminute something more exciting comes a long. T don't think you said whether these prisoners got to the top of the list, ahead of others; or, if they wait their turn. Barry White died waiting for a kidney, his music should have put him at the top of the list, but not prisoners, no way.— August 27, 2009 11:04 p.m.
Letters
The world would be a better place with more mothers like H. Jacobs, Pete. Unfortunately, yours blew her chance to change the world.— August 27, 2009 2:34 p.m.
Prison Inmates (Dedicated to Dominick Dunne)
Not necessarily Pete. While a patient at Moores Cancer Center at UCSD (which is considered by professionals to be the best of the best), I'd see prisoners brought in in shackles. I'd take them to Tijuana Tech for their treatment. Anyone, including the government, that would be stupid enough to believe anything a con says, is setting themselves up for disaster. If these people were religious in the first place, they wouldn't commit murder. Thou shall not kill...— August 27, 2009 2:28 p.m.
Party Time?
PistolPete: It was when you called me a "F'n kunt" that I cooled on your style. I'll pass on the beer. I'm with missionmom on what the Reader should allow, but I accepted the fact a long time ago that the Reader is never going to be a class act. You are not an independent thinker or honest, you are verbally abusive, which is too bad, considering I was not that way to you.— August 26, 2009 8:46 p.m.

When I hear about money being tossed away like that, I think about how much good it could have done in rescuing animals. Rescue is a never-ending money drain for those who participate in it. I've always liked "Candle In The Wind," sorry Josh. But I don't blame you for not liking it. It's not a "guy" song. I can't wait to pick up my little cutie at the vet tomorrow. I had to wait four days for her to get spayed. I think she's got a good story.— August 25, 2009 11:36 p.m.
Party Time?
Regarding comment #32 by anti-- Not that it's any of your business, but my daughter is mentally ill and the "cutting" story is about her. She doesn't read my postings, but was interested in the one about her. Several years ago, I took her to a graduate from Colombia Medical School (I'm sure you know more than he does) who said it was to my credit that she has done so well (no pregnancies, drugs, etc.) considering her problems. She has the same problems her dad had, who drugged and drank himself to death in April. She is a very-good phlebotomist and married to a sweet man in the Navy who is studying to be an engineer. I also have a son who is very successful and works for a Fortune 500 company. He is marrying a Stanford graduate in the spring. PistolPete would like to class himself by calling himself an "independent thinker," but what he is, is an insensitive a-hole, pure and simple. Josh, on the other hand is a sweet, talented writer. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't go near this website. Missionmom--please forgive my fellow posters. Many of them have lower IQs than anyone who has been diagnosed, "developmentally delayed."— August 25, 2009 11:23 p.m.
James Cotton Meets James Cotton
I've come across a few "Snoop Dogs" in my day, and then there's the occasional "Elvis..."— August 25, 2009 9:44 a.m.
A Sunday Picnic -- Free From the Computer
Pistolpete: The reason that sounds stupid to you is because you haven't given birth.— August 24, 2009 10:17 p.m.
James Cotton Meets James Cotton
Hey! They look alike! I adopted a new best friend this week. I pick her up Wednesday. I'll post a blog about her as soon as I get a picture.— August 24, 2009 10:09 p.m.
