In the late summer months of August and September folks from countless small towns across the nation congregate at their local county fair. They come together to share, play and celebrate. With the smell of kettle corn in the air and live music floating through the treetops, these hard working common people of America come to kick up their heels and delight in their summer's harvest. San Diego's own folk/pop/bluegrass outfit The County Fair [band] captures this good-old-fashioned essence of late August outside city limits, as well as the ear-pleasing sounds of a summer celebration with their debut album, Family Tree, independently recorded/produced and released by the band on 11/11/11. The early formation of the band was started in December 2010 when Trev (guitar/vocals) and Pete (banjo/mandolin/harp/vocals) met at a local open mic night. Both had a genuine admiration for traditional Bluegrass and Folk music, and with a few original songs traded between them, the humble beginnings of the band were formed. Through their network of friends they were able to bring Cameron (percussion), Jared (upright bass/vocals), and Ian (lead guitar/slide) on board, resulting in an eclectic melting pot of new inspiration. The group's most recent addition, Sarah (violin/vocals), has added even more depth and collaborative possibilities to the table. Near future plans for the band include recording a full-length album starting Spring '12, branching out on small tours and booking more local shows with other great San Diego bands/touring acts.
