Union-Tribune's chief photographer heads for the Times
Not being in the biz, could someone explain to me what a "transformation editor" is?— October 8, 2018 9:45 a.m.
The potholes of Harbor Drive
Used to commute by bike up and down Harbor back in the 80's and 90's. The carnage was a broken frame, multiple rims, numerous spokes and flats. Finally gave up and took Main St. Not as much room, but I didn't have to worry about being thrown from my bike into traffic. One thing I noticed was that I needed no boundary sign to know when I'd left or entered San Diego city.— July 18, 2017 10:10 p.m.
California watchdog limits freebies for Latinos for Israel
So, I wonder how the reached-for Latino leaders feel about Israel's wall?— August 23, 2016 4:29 p.m.
Burned: once by clinic, then by court
So, is this a lawyer joke? The longest paragraph in the article describes the doctor's cred, but some lawyer and judge decide he ain't squat?— August 8, 2016 8:48 a.m.
Del Martian files suit against U-T owner, now called Tronc
I immediately looked up to the byline to be sure it wasn't a Walter Mencken scoop.— June 3, 2016 noon
"I feel like I'm forced to use my car."
Walk a half hour? Both ways? Oh, the humanity!— January 27, 2016 8:07 a.m.
City decks NFL proposal with lots of folly
I was more interested in what the politicians' response would be. Given that the Chargers probably won't put all their cards on the table, their response is likely to be "nice offer" and negotiate upward. I think the government should take the offer off the table today and start with zero public contribution if the Chargers come back. But I don't expect a profile in courage given that it's OPM.— January 4, 2016 2:02 p.m.
City decks NFL proposal with lots of folly
I haven't seen anyone cover the scenario in which the Raiders and the Rams win the lottery and the Chargers have to come back to the bargaining table. I'm sure they'll use the current offer as a starting point, but would the local government team have the guts to play hardball? Take that offer off the table and start at zero public contribution?— January 4, 2016 8:55 a.m.
Chula Vista condo plan misses mark again
1. why? 2. So I walk out to the back of my property and I can see into 3 or 4 neighbors' back yards which are 10 feet or so below me. I have a 2nd story deck which provides a view of my next door neighbor's back yard. Tear my house down? 3. What about telecom, trash collection, education? Only bums allowed to run for office?— December 23, 2015 6:35 a.m.
More body cameras for SDPD
SANDAG and presumably SDPD argue that ubiquitous license plate reader data should be kept for all time because you just never know when and where the bad guys will show up. So shouldn't the body cams be on and saved for all time? Jimmy Hoffa might show up in the background.— November 10, 2015 8:53 a.m.
