Billboard on Morena Boulevard Predicts May 21 Will Be Judgment Day

It's December 21, 2012, the Mayans have never been wrong about anything yet. Well, except for the Spaniards killing them and the survivors being forced into Christianity. The rest of them fled into the jungle and gave a crap less. This is what happens. Never the less, pay close attention to the expiration dates on your canned and dry foods. Anything after 12/21/12 is a waste of food, and humanity certainly doesn't want future archeologists to accuse them of purposefully wasting resources when it was TOTALLY OBVIOUS that their planet would come to a screeching halt because a distant, misunderstood, and probably irrelevant semi-ancient culture busted up one too many chisels when pounding out a calendar that less than 1/20th of 1% of the modern world actually understands.

Case-Shiller Data Suggest Possible Housing Double-Dip

Founder, a couple of years ago the Mexican peso was above 15:1, so I'm not so sure about the gaining. Also note that the Mexican peso does more of a dance with how the dollar reacts to the Japanese yen than it does to anything else, unless the markets are tanking, in which case Mexican investors buy dollars here much as U.S. investors buy gold over there. It's a lot more complicated than most people think.

Four Bakery Outlets Close in San Diego County

Keep in mind it takes 2 days to cross goods into or out of the U.S./Mexico, so I doubt that Bimbo is bringing stuff back over here. Likely, our 2nd hand stores get the goods from here. My opinion is obviously very much Occam's Razor, but usually the most simple explanation is the true explanation.

Four Bakery Outlets Close in San Diego County

There are stores here in Mexico, called "Expendio's", where Bimbo bread is offered at discount. These stores (many, many hit-and-miss locations all over, they are privately owned) offer all Bimbo products that are close to expiration. My guess is that products for the Bimbo operation in the U.S. have to be manufactured in the U.S. or at a minimum in an entirely separate facility here in Mexico to meet with the strict and expensive compliance required by the Health Czars there (just as all beer brewed for export to the U.S. has to be done in a separate facility here). My guess is that Bimbo is not nearly as profitable in the U.S. as it is here in Mexico, and the regulations and standards required to sell old bread in the U.S. probably aren't worth the expense. As for myself, if I were forced to do a similar business in the U.S. I would destroy all leftover food rather than risk a multi-million dollar class-action lawsuit. In the United States of America, it is often financially dangerous to attempt to feed poor people, or even people who enjoy saving a few dollars here and there. Apparently, the liability from bombing Middle-Eastern countries poses less of a risk as the same government that crushes its own people with stupid regulations has no issue spending billions of taxpayer dollars on missiles and bombs overseas.

Either Side Of The River

No worries, Visduh, sometimes Reader readers online take issue with the blogger and not the entry content, I wasn't sure for a minute there. I don't mind any disagreement over content, nor over perceptions from Mexico. I think it IS to be expected. I internally went ballistic concerning yet another story here that focused entirely on the negative about Mexico. I figured why bother writing about what I experience here if the opposite is continually published. Many people emailed and messaged me, it changed my mind. I felt a little humbled, a little selfish, and a little loved all at the same time. The best thing I can do for now is to keep this weblog here and keep writing. It pays dividends in different ways as well. Someone apparently Googled something on the internet and found something I had written or commented on here, and send me a note through the Reader. It came from the son of someone I admired very much when he was alive and working. If nothing else ever came of this weblog, then that's plenty.
